Shooter kills 4 Marines in Tennessee

Been following the news, very sad and our thoughts for the families of the four Marines and the wounded.
 
Heartbreaking news. . . may the outpouring of sympathy help comfort the families in this most difficult time.
 
As the father of a Daughter in the Marines and Father in Law to a Marine pilot deployed somewhere and having a Son in the Naval Reserve now half way down the Red Sea on a commercial container carrier I feel for all their families and worry every day for those who go in harms way.
 
So terribly sad and also frightening. That our heroes can be taken by evil people on their own turf, which should be the safest place of all, is unbelievable to me. Military bases are going on some type of high alert. My DS is 2 weeks into OCS at Quantico. I believe this will keep him safe but I wonder if it impact his time there. I have no idea what happens when military bases get their security bumped up.
 
It takes a really long time to get on base with extra screenings.

Horrible news today. Thoughts are with the family.
 
Forget the NUKE we are now DEFCON 1 with people who will kill us without provocation because they don't like our lifestyle.

Recruiting stations are usually open and accessible, often in strip malls and easy-to-get-to locations. Do you think this will lead to enhanced screening at places like that?

Such a senseless tragedy.
 
Navy Petty Officer has died from his wounds. He was a reservist working at the Recruitment Center. God Bless them all. DOD is "reviewing" their security procedures at recruiting stations, a very soft target.
 
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Governors in several states ordered National Guardsmen to be armed in the wake of an attack on two military facilities in Tennessee, and Florida Gov. Rick Scott went a step further Saturday by immediately relocated recruiters to armories.

In an executive order, the Republican governor said he wants Guard recruiters to move from six storefront locations into armories until state officials can evaluate and make security improvements, including possibly installing bullet-proof glass or enhanced surveillance equipment.

Scott ordered the Guardsmen to be armed, as did governors in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Governor's may set standards for National Guard within their states since they are under their command until nationalized. Let's see what the DOD does. Probably nothing.
 
Sad news that the injured Petty Officer died from his wounds today. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
