My DD received an email today from her AFROTC detachment. It stated some of the items she needs to bring. One of the items are white V neck undershirts. Have those other girls out there just purchased men's undershirts? I know it sounds like a dumb question....but they really don't make women's undershirts. At least I have never seen them except tank tops.

Yup! That's where mine came from. I'm a rising senior in AFROTC so let me know if you have any other questions!

The V neck will be for wear with the open collar shortsleeve service uniform. However, I believe that requirement is only for the boys, as AFI 36-2903 states v necks are optional for women.

They will be wearing them under the blues so make sure they are a deeper V also. You don't want the collar showing while wearing them.

Sled, DS hates the darker/lighter effect from deep V collars so he gets ones that end right at the button

At our det, our freshmen wear det polos, they wear the white V-neck under those, and then when you get blues, you wear them under the shirts. They are mandatory for everyone. For females, the male V Necks work fine. Just get the plain ones from hanes or fruit of the loom.

The V necks are required for women too and are definitely required at FT. Without them the blues shirt is slightly see through.

I just purchased a pack from the men's section, they generally don't sell them for women in bulk.

Yes according to the Field Training Manual you will need 3 V necks borne at personal expense but according to AFI 36-2903 they are not required to be worn for women.

And WannaBeOfficer, DS detachment makes cadets wear regular undershirts with det polos.
