Stolen Valor

I do as well. I remember reading those as they unfolded. What's funny is that in the article they show post from here and they block out other posters image and name information but they have the link to the post at the top.

Wow I can't believe they are talking about TPG.

I just pulled up that old thread. CaptMJ you are one of them on the thread.

I am just curious, and not trying to take this off topic, but how did they get away with not blurring his avatar? CaptMJ, yours is blurred.

Although "Stolen Valor Act" has been struck down for just claiming military experience. Wearing of medals not authorized is still a crime ( I Think?). He should be in a hole somewhere. I wonder what circle Dante would place him.

I now wonder about his DD...was she real? The reason I remember is she commissioned the same year as my DS. He made a todo about her going to law school on the Marine Corps dime. She supposedly commissioned out of UVA. I recall it clearly because we all were joking about the cost of purchasing new uniforms for them, and tpg joked with me about how they had to get their uniforms in order for the commissioning, which in turn meant more bills.
~ If the blogger is correct and he was born in 1972, than my guess is he did not have a DD graduating from UVA in 2012.

I really hope that the blogger is wrong and there is someone out there impersonating the TPG that was a member here. If not, he took trolling to a level I can't even wrap my cranium around.

I never doubted his Beirut story because I remember being @18 when it occurred and just thought he was @my age so it didn't seem unfathomable to me.

Many of us can remember at one time his avatar was the fruit salad. All of his ribbons. This guy really had more time on his hands than I can imagine by finding an avatar like that. Granted I don't think anyone really looked at to see if it was correct, we all just trusted him.

His daughter never went to law school, never went in the USMC, and never was JAG. TPG was hopeful at one time for her to go to an academy but she changed her mind. There appeared to be some motivation on his part to "grease the skids" by joining this forum when she expressed interest in an academy. I cannot imagine how she must feel once she reads about his secretive life and what he posted about her. The natural first thought, I presume, would be "Are my accomplishments not good enough for my father?"

No PIMA I remember when this unfolded and once the truth started to come out I remember TPG changed his signature block to something legal blather but for the life of me I can't remember what it was changed to.

Seeing as his life was all lies, I am not sure there is a wife or a child. If you search the threads he does indeed state openly his DD was commissioning in May 2012. He stated that he was injured 19 days before making CWO-05.

So sad impo that someone had to resort to this fictional level.

I guess I missed that post. All I can say is wow.

The idea that he wrote a disclaimer stating on the advice of counsel is amazing to me.

I always thought his claim of being an SES govt employee was strange, but I just thought that due to the level of his disabilities he got points to get him into that position.

Guess he also was never a professor at the local college either!

OBTW, on that blog it links another site. https://militaryphonies.wordpress.com/2015/07/30/tpg-tpgusmc-todd-patrick-golding/

If you look at that page 90% of the information they use is from his posts here. One even has Tactical Nuke replying Good Luck and enjoy!

This was basically their last paragraph regarding him:
Todd Golding was quoted in the February 2015 edition of Leatherneck magazine as he was part of a Veteran’s Writing Project seminar held at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. This is relevant because combined with his role as president of a Sons of American Revolution (SAR) chapter, he would be entrusted with accuracy when he writes about military history. Since Golding has now changed his online name to “Creative Writer” under the advice of legal counsel, it’s important that he makes this important distinction to people reading his writings *before* they are influenced into believing it is an accurate account of history and his military service. For any writer to make this distinction after they have been challenged on the accuracy of their facts causes a loss of credibility.

I just remember thinking his posts were proof that serving honorably and courageously doesn't acquit one of being a d***.

That's what I thought he was. Now I know he was simply pathetic; more deserving of pity than anger.
