Today in the mail, thin letter from admissions, states "You are invited to attend an USNA Admissions Forum" in our locale. This is an opportunity to meet and talk to admissions people, faculty and midshipmen and learn about educational opportunities provided by USNA. I must say I am confused and freaked out, do they think my son is applying for next year, or did other people get this info to?

Ha-ha, you must've googled USNA Forum. Don't worry, your son is not going to be drafted into the military. This is simply an opportunity to meet with USNA representatives and find out more about the academy.

I don't think they send these invitation to just anyone; I'd assume your son must've shown some interest. I suggest asking him.

Good luck!

Or if you mean that your son is applying for THIS year and you think the Academy thinks he's applying for next year then don't worry. I received one practically the day before my appointment came in the mail.

We got one here in NJ too, and were very nervous to open it, thinking it was a rejection letter:eek:

whoops

Sorry, should have included more info. He is a triple Q with a nom for this year, and yes the freak out was related to the "Thin" aspect of the envelope. I don't know whether he should go or not. These forums are intended for people who are just starting the process right? Thank you for telling me this happened to someone who received an appointment after getting this letter, I was worried his stuff was in the wrong pile.

Can't Hurt, If you Have the Time

This is another opportunity to speak with folks about the process and best, to speak with current Mids about their USNA experience. It is also a chance to share the experience your candidate has gained with the next set of prospective candidates.

While it is possible that your candidate's name git in the wrong pile, it is more probable that they wished to include all who have a current interest.
