So I submitted my personal statement the other day and after i submitted it, a reliable source told me one thing I should really emphasize when writing it; however, I almost did the opposite. In a panic, I emailed my regional officer asking if I could change it if possible. Except, I don't want it to look like someone told me to change it. So here is my question... How much can the personal statement hurt me? or What is some advice for this situation?? I'm freaking out, I don't want this to be a breaking point of something stupid just because I wasn't positive of what to write.

Sorry for drifting a bit off topic, but what is that one thing that the reliable source said you should emphasize when writing it?
That I should emphasize how USNA is going to prepare me to be a Career Professional Naval Officer where as I wrote about how USNA will not only prepare me for a leadership role in the Navy, but also prepare me to success for life after service.

I honestly think the first thing you wrote about is fine. The first part of the prompt talks about your initial interest in the Naval Service and how the Naval Academy will assist you in reaching your long term goals. Notice it didn't say long term goals in the Navy/Marine Corps. Admissions understands that not everyone who applies wants to or will be a Commander/Lieutenant Colonel, Captain/Colonel, or Admiral/General. Some honestly want to 5 and dive, others want to stay in a little longer, and some want to make it a career. USNA isn't just interested in your development as an officer. They are interested in your professional and personal development as well. They want you to become a better person and your job is to explain to them how USNA can do that for you and thus enable you to reach your long term goals, regardless if they are military, civilian, or personal.
