Hello,

This is my resume as of now. I'm a Jr in High School and I just want to know what are my chances of entering West Point or Prep a Academy or getting a nomination.

Academics:
GPA: 3.125 Weighted
3.00 Unweighted
ACT: 20 (English 21; Math 19; Science 23; Reading 17)

Leadership:
JROTC: LET 3
Cadet Captain; Company Commander; Armed Drill Commander; Air Rifle Commander
Drill Team Captain of Church Pathfinders
CyberPatriot State Runner-Up

Athletics:
Varsity Soccer Team

Community Service:
Helped at Special Olympics 2x

My dad retired from the Military as an E-7.
I'm Hispanic.
Both Parents have degrees.
Low-income household (If any of this matters)

All this is prone to change I'm just saying as it is.

At the moment, it doesn't look like you have a chance at West Point this year, due to your low ACT scores. If you can raise that by several points, that is definitely liable to change. You are, however, definitely in the running for a prep school spot! Ace the CFA, get a nom and finish the app ASAP.

chief, I am sure you have taken a look at the stats for the current class at West Point. How do you think you stack up?

With that in mind, it just takes one small glance to see your GPA and test scores are much lower than the averages for the current class. I see you are new to the forum. Take a look at the stickies in the USMA forum about nominations, admission and what are my chances. These will help guide you in what classes you should be taking, volunteer work, athletics, etc. You are still a junior so this would map our your timeline for next year. There is tons of information on how to improve your resume within those stickies. With those test scores I doubt you would become a qualified candidate next year unless they get a pretty big bump. Also try the SATs, you might do better. Tons of tips if you use the search function on this site on ACT/SAT prep/improvement. Not trying to dash dreams or hopes, but reality is the test scores and also GPA need some work.

Yeah, I understand my scores are low but the thing is, I got that score in my Freshman year. I'm about to take it again this September so its not gonna last. Plus, knew I probably wouldn't get far with my current scores, I just wanted to see where I am, as it is, currently.
Honestly, I don't mind going to a prep academy, as long as I get in eventually. If anything, I just want to know whether or not(as it is) I can get a nomination or Prep Academy Sponsor.

First, apply regardless what your chances are. If you don't apply you will never know and to be considered for the prep school you have to apply to West Point.

West Point is a means to an end. The end is serving our country. If so, you should consider other ways to serve our country.

Agree, apply. Hopefully the new test scores make a good jump, they should if they were taken a few years ago. High school upper level math and English courses hopefully prepared you well. Make sure to read the stickies as they have loads of info on what classes you should be taking, how the Academy weighs things and the timeline to apply.

BTW, WP has some website suggestions for studying for the SAT/ACT. If you have not yet begun study prep, you may want to look them up.
