Hi, I'm a senior in high school and I've almost completed my Army ROTC application; I only have the PMS interview left. I was wondering, as of now, what my chances of getting a scholarship are like.

GPA: 4.0 unweighted
SAT: 1310 M and CR; 680 M 630CR 660W
ACT: 30 composite score
Class rank: 5/276
Mainly honors and 3 AP classes from Freshmen-Junior year (4 AP classes this senior year)
Basketball: 1 year JV 3 years Varsity and I'll be captain this season; travel basketball team freshmen and sophomore year
Track and Field: 4 years Varsity
Officer in NHS
Member of an Athletic Leadership Committee
Founder and VP of a female empowerment club
Work: May-October at golf course 20-35 hours/week
My PFT scores were: 25 push ups in a minute, 45 curl ups in a minute, and a 7:45 1-mile (a little low for the mile but my scores have already been sent in)

Any advice is welcomed :)

Junior in highschool? Rather sure youre supposed to be a senior. I assume its a typo out of habit.
Do you have any more leadership you could possibly put on there?
PT is also low. You should be approaching meeting the passing standards for the Army PFT which is 2 mins of push ups and sit ups, 53 sit ups, 43 push ups, and 15:54 2 mile. I understand it is half the time/ distance, but for push ups and sit ups you should have 75-80% of that, and your mile time id aim under 7.

Oh yeah I definitely meant "senior". Those four things are the basic leadership positions that I've had, so I don't think I have anymore unless I add in all the committees that I've led in each club. Unfortunately my pt scores are in so there's not much I can do about that

Your application isn't "boarded" yet, so you have a little time. I would not submit those pt test numbers. The rest of your stats look great! I know the pt test isn't alot in the whole package, however if you are close to another potential candidate do you want those numbers to decide. It's not hard to actually get the passing requirement numbers for the apft in the one min allowed for pushups and curlups. The run is ok, but those pushup numbers are really low. You have time while you wait for interview to retake the test I'm sure. I would shoot for at least 40 pushups and 50 curlups. Check the Internet for training workouts, if you don't want to do that, take the test 4 times a week before your workout.

Sio12,

I'm so sorry, I just noticed your a female. I'm not sure if that is low or not for a female candidate. I would still shoot for 75 to 80 % of the passing score for the apft. Like I said earlier you can still upload until you application says "Boarded" in big green letters. Good luck!

@ChildeRoland76 , passing for a female 17-21 is 19 push-ups (Max is 42), and @sio12 did 25 in one minute. While she could obviously do more, your advice is not helpful. Sio - keep working to improve, but I don't think your scores will prevent you from getting a scholarship.

Oh my, I didnt read into it either.
My lack of attention to detail may have caused me to misinform you.
25 push ups gets you 70/100 (you need 60 to pass)
53 sit ups is 60/100 to pass, given curl ups are a bit easier, Id aim to improve here.
15:36 is maxing the 2 mile run at 100/100. Id aim for 7 minutes 30 seconds on a 1 mile. Your mile is your best part so far.

I do want to add your application does look strong.
Leadership will be close to max, academics look great (but I cant reassure this because they evaluate applications on their standards) and PT scores are not bad.

I have already apologized for assuming the op was a male. Since the op is a female the scores look good. Had the op been male, I don't believe the advice would have been "not helpful". I just didn't catch the female part in the leadership stats. Good Luck!

Oh sorry for the confusion, I probably should have specified. Oh well, thank you all for your helpful responses!

My opinion means pretty much nothing but based on my experience with my two kids, I think you're golden for an AROTC scholarship!!
