With such few appointees each year, it seems that there is few "true recruited" athletes to the USCGA. How open is it for all appointees to play a Varsity sport?
He sent videos to both coaches last year with letters from his coaches. He met with Soccer coach at AIM. Did not get the opportunity to speak with LAX coach during AIM. He plans to touch basis again with them about his EA app. I know for sure he wants to keep playing soccer. I of course want to bubble wrap him until next summer. AT USNA he is not D1 recruited, he wont get to play. At D3 level with the coast guard he hopes to get the chance to be a member of the team. Trying to figure out if we should send current soccer video. If he hasn't already, he should drop an e-mail to (or otherwise make contact with) both the soccer and lacrosse coaches to make them aware of his interest and his application. First, there may be some small benefit in the application review process. Second, if he is accepted, he will get a chance to attend team picnics before R day and be made aware of coach's time sessions during swab summer. It's always nice to meet some classmates before R-day so that there are some familiar faces in an otherwise very trying day.
Coming from a small close knit Friends school, that is very much appealing to himThere are a lot of opportunities to play at CGA, soccer, lacrosse, or anything else. That's the nice, closeness of a D-3 school.
And for all you Florida Rowers the CGA will be at the Charlotte Cty College Fair on 23 Sep, Manatee Cty College Fair on 6 Oct and Sarasota Cty College Fair on 7 Oct. Go Bears Crew!!!!Anyone has the ability to play a varsity sport.

I hope that the both of you enjoy your new coach! He knows the sport! Work!
Thanks...Hope the nod comes in...If not, looks like Company ultimate frisbee at the USNA...Not a bad plan BMy oldest son played soccer at USCGA all four years graduating in 2014. Coach Parsons is an outstanding coach and the soccer program regularly places high in the NEWMAC and ECAC conferences. They got an NCAA berth last year and advanced to the second round. You can't go wrong with Coast Guard Soccer.
II think that the opportunity for football was the deciding factor for my son, along with the smaller and more welcoming feel of the campus. And, now that Swab Summer is over, he is 100% sure he made the right decision.

DS wants to learn to row this spring..I only wish I would have tried more things as a cadet…. but that's hindsight….
