AROTC component change

Knowing the deadline dates she has already submitted her branch requests. She would need to talk to her cadre right away if she did indeed receive AD. They will be the ones that will be able to best advise her if and how it's possible. Do it quickly so if she is able to switch, it will open an AD slot for a cadet that is on the Alternate list.
 
Ugh. I agree with Jcleppe. The sooner she takes action the better. Hopefully the Cadre will be receptive to the change of heart and it's likely that there is plenty of demand for AD.

My DS is in the process now. Had decided at the end of the summer to pursue a component change because of an amazing civilian job offer and a Guard unit that would make it a possibility. Cadre said to wait until after components were released. He received AD and was in the top 10% so guarenteed branch choice. Still wanted to change. Talked to enrollment officer at the Guard unit he wanted to join. Secured an LOA guaranteeing him a spot in the Guard unit. Talked to his future employer and secured a delay to allow him to complete BOLC. Took it to his LTC who endorsed the change. LTC sent it to Bragaide. Bragaide endorsed the change and now it is in Cadet Command's hands. Lots of moving parts and he had to make sure that all were in place ... Job delay, Guard unit, cadre support. It still might not be approved and if not, he will be AD. And that will be fine.
 
I got mine approved in 2012 when all nurses were basically pushed into AD. It took some hoops but I got it. I was able to start grad school rather immediately after getting some experience which is why I went into the reserves in the first place.

My masters would be impossible to get while on AD.
