Fencing Team

DS fenced plebe year. Lots of dedicated talented people involved in coaching and supporting the team. They have a Facebook page--USNA Fencing.

I don't know much, but I know someone that does. What is your question. My son just received a LOA, his best friend is a recruited athlete for the fencing team. I know he is being recruited for AFA, not sure if he's recruited for Naval Academy.

I believe fencing is a D1 sport at USAFA. I believe it's a club team at Navy. Could be wrong. So from a recruiting perspective, if club, not gonna happen.

Fencing is Div 1 at USAFA and they recruit. Fencing at USMA and USNA is club sports and don't compete through the NCAA system. They don't have recruitment slots like USAFA.

Would you be able to say or not if some Clubs do get slots allocated?

Nobody knows with 100% certainty; however, in my experience the only sports with real pull are the big name sports, i.e. Football, basketball, and to a lesser extent baseball, volleyball, soccer, etc. The best indication of who has pull is to look at the Prep Schools and which teams have people there.

Having an advocate inside one of the clubs will certainly be a plus, but it won't make up for less competitive applicants (not saying that is necessarily your situation).
