Nomination Question

Hi,

I live in a very competitive district and I've completed applications to 4 nominations sources (Congressman, 2 senators and VP). I also received an LOA from West Point towards the beginning of September and have since qualified medically. Seems like the only thing left now is to secure a nomination. Any suggestions on what I can actively do to move that process along and improve my chances of receiving one? Appreciate any insight or advice. Thanks!

Nothing. You sit and wait to be invited to interview. It will happen soon enough. I guess it might help to make sure your congressman and senators are aware of your LOA, but it won't speed anything up.

Kinnem is spot on....but what you CAN do is prepare for the interviews....and prepare well. Take nothing for granted, assume nothing and don't take your foot off that accelerator just because you have an LOA. Finish strong and with a flurry.
 
I received a ROTC and Presidential nomination. I hear only a few appointments are offered through the ROTC nomination.
 
Everything you could have done, is done.

work on your plan B, and even, Plan C.
 
Ditto - prepare for the interview. Think about what questions they may ask and prepare an answer in your mind, so you can quickly answer during the interview , rather than stumble for an answer. Google 'how to prepare for an interview' and glean advice. Plan how you'll dress. Practice how to address your MOC.

Search old threads for common interview questions. Set up a mock interview. My sons both did this...scoutmaster, neighbor who was an academy grad, another academy parent. They grilled them mercilessly until they were confident of how they'd answer questions. You must absolutely have a well-thought out answer to the questions you know you'll get like why do you want to attend academy X and why should you be selected and not candidate Y? Prepare!!
 
Thanks for the replies. I definitely will check the thread on common interview questions and will also work on a Plan B. I think that I'm in a good position to receive a nomination, but I'm also keenly aware that things can happen that could derail me from my current track. Thanks again.
