Hello, I am also an applicant for West Point Class of 2020. I saw my scores for the October Test and was quite disappointed with my results. These are my best sections score from all the tests combined.

CR: 590
Math: 710
Critical Reading: 680

Please correct me if I am wrong. But, will West Point not look at my file at all and close it because I have a 590 on CR and the required SAT Sections must be 600 each? If this is the case, I will take the ACT on December to improve my scores.

Your first score says CR. Is that reading or writing? If your scores are 710 and 680- they're decent.

I doubt WP will close your file for that reason considering 590 CR is not that far below their average. That being said, it would probably still be in your best interest to take the SAT/ACT, or even both, in December.

Verify, but when you retake the test, you can take the test without the writing section. Your writing score is solid. it will allow you to focus on the other two key categories.

During a recent visit to WP this summer, the Head of Admissions said that WP will not accept any standardized test score if the writing section is not completed. I would call WP just to confirm.

Confirmed, on the portal page it says Class of 2012 and later writing scores are required with the SAT and ACT.

Call and confirm. I was in a very recent event and it was stated differently by a RA. It is worth talking straight to your Regional Administrator. Sometimes the webpage is not current.

That isn't true. You do need to take the writing portion at least one time, but they will accept ACTs with no writing. I submitted an ACT without writing in addition to one with writing, and both were accepted. An ALO even recommended me to not take the writing portion again because I had scored fairly well on it and it isn't weighed very heavily.

That just means you need at least one writing score on youe file.

Take the ACT/SAT test as many time as you can. WP will super score or take the highest score. In the past the test scores are accepted until the last week of January when the applications process closes, if my memory serves me.
