Citadel Honors Application

As I am filling out the application to the Honors Program at El Cid, I find myself wondering how long my responses to the free-response questions should be. They have no character limit, so if anyone can give me some insight on what Dr. Rhodes and the rest of them are looking for, that would be greatly appreciated.
 
Are you talking about the essays questions for the Honors Program? Are you high school senior?
 
Yes I am, although I'm not sure that they are actually essays, or short answer questions. In other words, a 250 word essay, or a three sentence response. And yes I am a senior.
 
if I remember correctly, they wanted a max of 2 pages. Where are you traveling from?
 
I am coming from Southern Virginia, you? And I was actually talking about the Honors Program application. The essay for the scholarship competition was due last week, but I called and asked if it was ok to go over 2 pages (it is). Did you choose essay topic 1 or 2?
 
The short answer is no. But it is my understanding that a good portion of honor cadets are scholarship winners. Of course some have scholarships from El Cid, others from various ROTC, and still others from non-school grants and scholarships.

Hopefully Glen or some other alums can chime in. My DS was accepted to The Citadel, but elected to stay closer to home.
 
I already know a good bit of information about the Honors Program, I was just wondering about how long the free-response answers should be. I do not want to send a 5 page essay for a question that could be answered in 3 sentences or a 3 sentence answer that should have been a 5 page essay.

The PDF application states the following:


"Provide answers for each of the following questions. Length: anywhere from a paragraph to a page or two, except for

#1, which calls for a list and enough explanation so we can tell what each honor or award was for.

1) What honors or awards have you received?

2) What have you read or studied which has impressed or influenced you? Explain.

3) Discuss one of your most important accomplishments or endeavors, other than athletic.

4) Explain why you want to be in The Citadel's Honors Program."
