Is holiday break over on 1/5/16 for plebes? What is "academic board " on USNA calendar ? Thank you

Won't comment on Reform day in January - don't have Brigade calendar in front of me. Your plebe will be able to advise you.
Academic boards - those are administrative boards that meet and interview midshipmen in academic peril of separation. Failed courses, unsat GPA, etc. - the "long green table." Those mids will know who they are and be advised by their company chain of command as to their schedule.

That's what I thought too, Catchaser. However, the bus offered by NJ parents assoc. had 1/3/16 down for returning to USNA! Thanks.

MidRegs may still require air arrivals to land a certain number of hours before that evening report time, to allow for delays. Your plebe can look that up. Always prudent to get back a bit early anyway, as Yard will he jammed as the Brigade reforms.

Booked my DS's flight several weeks ago and he said he needed to return to USNA on Jan 8. To be safe, his flight arrives Jan 7. Will mids be allowed in Bancroft Hall before Jan 8?

@USNA 19 DAD - NY Parent's club has bus leaving at noon on 8 Jan from near Penn Station. Target is to arrive by 16:00 or so well in advance of 20:00 end of leave. You might want to reach out to NJ Parent's club to confirm where the 3 Jan timing came from....

I too would like to know if they return on 1/7 will they be able to stay in Bancroft?

My DS will be back on the 3rd, and I'm assuming he will be back in Bancroft (but then I'm no really sure! lol). One year however, he was back from some break (can't remember which one) a day or two early and had to wait for about 2 hours for someone in command to unlock his door! lol

Some second semester staff will have to be back early. And yes it can take awhile to get a room unlocked because duties are basically at a minimum and there is one guy running around Bancroft unlocking doors for folks as they arrive and call for their rooms to unlocked. They don't like to do mass unlockings until duties are back in place at the company level. Mother B is not small.

Ask your kids if they can stay in Bancroft. If they are Plebes they can ask their upperclass. In the past it has never been an issue, doubt it would be this year. Mids always have an option to remain in Bancroft, it is technically their home. It can suck to be in transient during the summer (but if they need a rack, there is always one) but during academic year leave periods this usually isn't an issue as they can stay in their rooms. As a basketball player I rarely had holiday leave and asked for my room to remained unlock so I could come and go as needed. Was never an issue as it was coordinated ahead of time. Best source of info for all this is your kids. Leave schedules will vary based upon their finals schedule, ECAs, billets, watch schedules and even class year.

We typically have West Coasters (sponsor mids) come in the day before and stay with us, especially anyone changing planes in Chicago. Makes Reform day easier.
Sponsor family might be an option.
