I received an email today from my second choice school that I am a 4 year scholarship winner. I am assuming letters from Cadet Command are forthcoming. Are awards given to one school only or any on the list provided on the application. I am still hoping I can attend my first choice school. Anybody know about this? Good luck to all!

Each year can be different, however the last 2 years almost every single 1st round winner was awarded a 4-year scholarship to their top 3 schools.

What were your stats?

Can you change schools or are the 6-7 from the initial application the only ones' you can attend?

From 3 years ago when our daughter went through this, you can't change schools once your application is boarded. She got a scholarship to her 6th choice school and had no real desire to attend. The recommendation from ROTC recruiting officers and PMSs at that time was to accept that scholarship and get accepted to that University. Once that is done, you can stay in contact with the ROO at the school you really want to attend and they may have a scholarship for your student that was earmarked for a kid that was not accepted at that school. That is what happened to our daughter. Her top school awarded her a 4 year scholarship and helped her through the admissions process. So lesson is to keep working the contact you have made. In the end, you can even enroll at the school where your child wants to attend, enroll in ROTC and see if a 3 1/2 or 3 year can be awarded. Best of luck!

My DS received a 3 year last year to 3 schools, his classmate also received a 3 year but to one school and he was able to request a transfer to his top school and it was approved.

Re: AROTC understanding is you cannot change schools for this board. If you are rolled over to the next board(s) and you want to change school choices you should contact Cadet Command and they MAY be able to assist you if spots are still available in those schools.

I've seen all kinds of crazy things happen (or not happen for that matter) in this process and remember that you're dealing with a government entity but if you don't get offered you 1st choice of schools with those stats, I'd be shocked. Good luck!!
