How often does the selection board meet?

Hello,

I completed my USAFA Application last week, but I am wondering when the results will come out.
Can't wait to hear from USAFA. Thanks.
 
There are no "result" per se to come back. Sometime between now and may, you will be told congrats or sorry.

The academy tries to speed it up, especially for applicants they know are highly competitive at many schools and they know you might except acceptance some place else. But there's no guarantee of hearing sooner.

The appointment process is very complicated. First there's the application, medical, cfa, etc. Then there's getting a nomination. Then there's the mandatory appointments, approximately 50% that must be distrusted equally, based on population to each state. Then there's the mandatory appointments that are military related based on military nominations. Then, the academy will fill the rest of the appointments as needed to get to the number they want.

On top of all this, you have to realize that not every applicant wants the military academy as their first choice for college. Believe it or not, anywhere from 200 to 500 will be offered an appointment, and they will turn it down. Then, depending on which slate those individuals were on, the academy will go back and offer others those appointments.

So, it's not the answer you want to hear, but you need to know how complicated this is. Especially when most people on this forum probably want the academy as their first college choice. But that's not everyone. Many are also applying to 3,4,5 additional schools and the academy might be the #3 on their preference list. Just sit back and wait. Hopefully you too applied to 3 or more other colleges just in case.
 
I read somewhere on the forum that the selection committee meets every Monday. I completed my application on 21 September and heard back from USAFA on 07 Novemeber. But I was not expecting to hear back until March or April. So I am guessing they review the completed applications in the order that they are received.

Did you receive an appointment?

Congratulations to you! What State are you from? Did you have your nomination interview yet? What a great feeling it must be, Congrats again!

I am not sure how to "quote" other peoples' posts yet. So I am sorry for invading everyone's news feeds! I am from Colorado. I had my MOC interview. And I have one senator interview this Saturday and the other on 06 December. Thank you for all of your support! There is an amazing sense of community on this forum.

Congratulations! How were you able to get your ALO to submit their evaluation so early? My DS has been completed over 1 month but still ALO evaluation not submitted.

Thank you! He was taking a few days, so I sent him a short email explaining that the submission was the last item on my checklist and that I wanted to make the next board review. He was happy to do it and had it in within a few hours.

LOL! Someone must have been reading this thread, because after 30 days of waiting, the portal now reads that the ALO evaluation has been submitted and DS' application is complete! What a relief!
