I haven't heard anything yet so I am assuming I didn't get a scholarship this board. Am I able to redo my fitness test? I was injured prior to my last one and I know I can do better on the running but the website says you'll only be boarded once. So if I do a new physical test will the second board even get it? I'm a little unclear...

I do not believe you can redo or update your Fitness test.

Also, don't give up yet on this round of scholarships, the status pages have not been updated and the final and official notifications have not been made yet.

Sara, scroll down and read the thread "First Board Results". You will find some helpful information there as to why people have not heard results yet. Make sure you read ALL the way to the end!

My understanding is that once you are "boarded" you cannot update any info on you application, including grades, GPA, test scores, LORs, etc. Is that correct?

Once you are boarded there is really no reason to update anything other than SAT/ACT scores. The board has already scored your file based on the stats they saw at the time your file was boarded. The PMS who interviewed you scored you based on the stats he/she saw. I believe you can continue to update your application, but don't expect it to make a big difference.

Do you guys think I have a chance in the next board? Here are my stats:
Academics:
All honors/ ap classes (4 and 5s on all exams)
4.0 GPA and valedictorian
College courses during summer (3)
SAT- 1890
ACT- 32
Plus awards
Athletics:
2 years of softball (1 jv school ball, 1 in a travel league; also a captain on these teams)
2 years of winter track (there is no varsity/ jv for this team)
2 years of regular track (1 letter)
6 years of skiing
Other activities:
3 years of technology student association (plus many awards associated with it on a state/ national level)
2 years of history clubs
4 years of drums
Paid work 10-15 hrs a week
Tutoring
Volunteering at food pantry and blood bank
(Among other things)
Leadership:
Sports team captain
Township parks and rec member
Tutoring
Leadership conference participant
Physical test:
Mile- 8:01 (not my best as aforementioned)
Push-ups - 32
Sit ups -44

I did my interview at my top pick and I think it went well, I hit it off pretty well with the pms
I also think my personal statement is good and I uploaded everything it gave me an option to, like a letter of recommendation from another parks and rec member and a resume.

Looks like you have a great resume, but it will all depend on where you end up on the OML and what the budget/availability is at the schools you've listed.

Sara,

Put the scholarship chance question aside for a second.

To activate a scholarship you will need to pass the PFT. There are multiple threads throughout this ROTC forum of how kids smoked the PFA in HS, but busted it when they got to their college. The main 2 reasons impo are:
1. The administer in HS was not as rigid on the form for push ups and sit ups as they will be in ROTC.
2. They enjoyed their "final" summer before college and did not continue to train.

You right now know your run is slow...I am assuming you are a female, and if true, I don't think it was a bust. However, 1st impressions matter, so keep that in mind once you matriculate to your college and enter AROTC.

I also agree with soccmomer. First board is like the last board...very few compared to the subsequent boards. Think Bell Curve.

Actually that's not quite correct.

There are only 3 boards for AROTC, the first have the fewest awards given. The second and third boards are where the bulk of the awards are given out, the second and third boards are close to equal in awards.

Again Sara, unless you have been told that you did not receive a scholarship, don't assume you haven't until the deadline of Dec. 4th.

If you have been told, then yes I think you have a good chance on either of the next two boards, your school choices can have an effect on getting a scholarship as well.
