Nomination confusion

Sorry to make another post, but I am in a tough situation. I emailed my congressman's office and they told me that I will only receive the nom to Air Force because "It is your #1 choice." However I explicitly listed in my application that my preferences were:
1. Navy 2. West Point 3. Air Force

Is there anything I can do? I feel utterly helpless. Navy has been my dream and I don't want to forfeit it over a misunderstanding. Thank you for any insight.
 
I think the only thing you can do is to clarify to your congressman's nomination office. I would try to contact them again (maybe a phone call this time?) to explain your situation.
 
Did you keep a copy of your application?
If so, either: 1. Make an appointment to visit the MOC SA coordinator and present the issue. 2. Write a letter attaching a copy of the application explaining the problem.

If you don't have a copy of the application, then ask the MOC coordinator for a copy of it and then follow the above.
 
Apparently they have already submitted the nominations. While I am very happy to be nominated, it is incredibly disappointing to not be able to follow in my dad's footsteps at Annapolis. Thank you for your responses
 
I feel for you! Did you keep a copy? If you have that, I think I would send the copy to them with an incredibly well written email discussing the mixup.
 
In our district, the Navy had 20 applicants, Army 5 and USAFA 2. By having other branches on your application, they may have placed you on a slate that you could receive a NOM. Not sure if that is the case with you, but our Congressional Office made it perfectly clear that they wanted to fill all slates, so if you had selected other services, then you could receive a nom to one other than your first choice.

That's a great idea, but unfortunately it sounds like the decision is final.. Thank you for the advice.

This makes perfect sense except he explicitly told me that AF was my first choice. This leads me to believe that there was a misunderstanding even though I told them my preferences on multiple occasions.
 
1+ Letsdothis - you have nothing to lose by sending a letter and potentially everything to gain. All they can do is say no, but if you don't send the letter you will always be wondering. It's time to be bold and go after what you seek. Perhaps your tenacity and perseverance will be looked upon favorably. Keep us posted and go for it!

I will definitely do that. I've been through so much in pursuit of this that I'm not going to let it slip without pursuing every avenue. Thank you for your time and encouragement
