Looking for Lucky Fourteen for the mids today. Good luck to Navy Football, including (but not limited to, as the lawyers say) the 15 out of 32 seniors who have service selected USMC!

My fair-weather DD has a nomination with both the Army and Navy; so she's wearing a West Point and an Annapolis shirt today as she watches the Army - Navy game. :coo2l:

Whew. Gutsy effort by the Army kids. Three turnovers and they still almost pulled it out with the Hail Mary. The Army quarterback is a good one, with Reynolds graduating the tide may turn. But not today. Well done, Navy football class of 2016.

Army played a heck of a game. Navy did not look good today. Had some moments. Luckily with some questionable play calling, luck and a senior team they got the victory!

It was definitely an exciting game to watch. That game could have gone either way right up to the last play. I applaud both teams.

Gusty performance from the Cadets who didn't have the same depth of talent but you couldn't tell it by the way they played or their effort.

Congrats to USNA and hats off to WP for showing us why being a 21 point dog in this game...means nothing. Proud of them all.

4th Quarter implosion did them in. Tough loss for Army- and sort of a surprising game for Navy which really didn't seem to play the option offense the way they have for most of the rest of the season.

Bruno, I concur. A little confused about what the heck we were doing. Army played it well, but it was like we didn't run half our offense.

Navy is never known for its marching prowess... Honestly Mids just don't really care about it... But for the first time in a few decades I think the Mids looked better than AWP! Man, AWP hosed that one up.

LOL, did you see the same March On as the rest of us? The Mids were like every year: if you imagined you were on a rocking boat, the lines would be straight!
:tank:

Army really screwed it up!

Mids always March like drunken sailors. It drives the Marine SNCOs nuts there. I think they all eventually realize it's a losing effort. Nothing new there. Hey at least we got all our people in the right spots on the first try!

Also . . . anyone notice Navy has a 14-game winning streak? But I'll happily concede Army has about a 100-year streak in the marching contest.

It's a shame for Navy that they're losing all their players and that Army's just getting started with a young team and still could have won. There will not be a 15.

Even as a Navy dad, I must admit that it appears WP has an ascending star at QB and a new crop of players that could finally change their fortunes in the next few years. Clearly, this years team was better than last years and the Black Knights played their hearts out last week and I give them a lot of kudos. I also agree that Navy will loose a boatload (pun intended) of talent and Coach Ken will have his work cut for him.

Having said all that, Fielding Yost once famously said "Football games are not won, they're lost" and Army lost it when it was "so near that they could barely fail to grasp it"....15 will depend less on the lose or addition of talent (Navy had a lot more talent on the field but you couldn't tell it) than who will show up a year from now and what they do in the moment.

You are probably right (Army QB excellent and Monken seems legit), and in the abstract, for this to stay a rivalry, Army needs to win its share. However, in the moment (next year, with beverage in hand), of course, I will still be rooting for The Streak to go to 15.
