DS got an email stating that Sen. Cornyn's review board was to meet on Nov 20th and that applicants would be notified soon after. The time has just about come. We have had no word from Cruz and are still waiting for our MOC to select those who get an interview. Anyone heard from Cruz?

My son was nominated by Cruz two years ago. He didn't hear anything until he got the notification that he received the nomination. Neither Cornyn nor Cruz set up interviews. My DS was scheduled to interview with our MOC- TX-23 in mid Dec, but cancelled it because in Texas they don't duplicate nominations. Good Luck!

Two years ago was Senator Cruz's first year to nominate. No interviews. Just a letter out of the blue in mid-December. Senator Cruz later put out a press release, around 20 DEC, with all the different academy nominees listed.

Last year, Senator Cruz didn't do a press release. To my knowledge Senator Cornyn has not done one in the years I've been paying attention.

Just going on my experience from two years ago, you'll probably hear something from Senators Cruz and Cornyn early- to mid-December, before Christmas.

FYI, last year Senator Cornyn posted a picture of his nominating committee meeting in Austin. I think it was around the 20th, like your letter said for this year also.

Good luck, Texan.

Nothing from Cruz here in Dallas. Interview with Rep. Burgess this Saturday. I figure Cornyn and Cruz are pretty much on the same schedule - mid December. Would be a nice Christmas present wouldn't it?

DS interviewed with MOC on the 20th. It was a panel of 11 which seemed intimidating at first but they were very friendly and the questions were fairly straight forward. They told him that results should be communicated in early Dec. No word from Cruz or Cornyn. Do they inform you if you didn't make it or only if you do?

Based on last year they both informed of non selection via snail mail. Good luck. There are a lot of applicants in the state of Texas.

Sounds exactly like the interview my son had with his MOC. At first he was told they would make their decision by the first week in December, then received an email saying there were many, many qualified candidates and that they would announce their decisions on Dec. 18th. I'm speculating the reason for this change is because they're going to have to confer with Cruz & Cornyn's staff to make sure there are no duplicate nominations. I suspect Cruz & Cornyn will announce their nominations on the same date.

I spoke with a representative from Cornyn and he said they are sending the letters out within the next two weeks and that we should hear by Christmas. Not sure why they are being sent out later than scheduled.

Small dilemma
DS has USAFA as first choice,USNA second and USMA third. He is a candidate at all 3. So he was invited to the Naval Academy Alumni Association blue chip dinner on the 18th. He went ahead and sent in a RSVP but he may find out that day that he has a nomination to another academy or no nomination at all. USNA is a close second for him and he told the review board that. Hate to no show but if he has no nomination what is the point? Would a explanation email to the Alumni Association be the way to go if he has no nomination to USNA?

Sounds like our sons both interviewed with Congressman Ratcliff's office. My DS is in the same boat with AFA as first choice and USNA as a close second and an invitation to the Naval Alumni Dinner the night of the 18th. We're also wondering the same thing - since announcements will be coming out the day of the dinner, will they be announcing the nominees at the dinner, and what if he doesn't get a nomination to the Naval Academy (awkward)? What if we don't get one at all (although I think DS has a pretty good shot). At this point, he's seriously starting to lean more towards the Naval Academy because of how "hands on" and encouraging his BGO has been throughout this entire process (it's really made an impression on him). We plan on going to the dinner and having a wonderful evening regardless of what happens with the nominations. His BGO has been first-rate all the way! If you feel strongly that there's no point in attending the dinner without a nomination to the USNA, by all means, let them know as soon as you receive word. With any luck, we will both be there celebrating with our DS's that night!

We attended the West Point dinner a couple of months ago and it was very well done and a good experience. Met some really impressive alums and had plenty of time to ask lots of questions.

Looks like the news has finally started to flow here in the Lone Star State! Congrats to you guys!

DS just got into A&M as well so plan B is also in place. I guess the kid is going to get to go somewhere lol.

Brawny77, same here. Nom from Cornyn yesterday and acceptance to Engineering at A&M and plans for Corps of Cadets there. Nice to have something to be sure of!

Jbelonga, evening telephone call to DS's cell phone last night (Dec 15).
