Hi there,

I have been awarded a 4 year AROTC scholarship to three schools.

On the letter I received, it says I can only apply the scholarship to one school. Does this mean that I pick one of the three schools and if so what happens if I don't get admitted into the school? Can the scholarship be applied to the other 2 schools?

Thanks!

If you are not admitted to the college of your scholarship choice you can request a transfer of scholarship.
You have to read everything in your paperwork and follow all direction. It's a process and you really don't find out whether the transfer is approved till April, May.

Suggest you contact the ROO at your no1 choice school to discuss.

Does this mean that I pick one of the three schools

Yes (but you might consider still applying to all 3 so you have the potential for a back-up plan)

so what happens if I don't get admitted into the school?

You can ask AROTC to move your scholarship to one of the two other schools if your #1 school does not admit you, but it is up to AROTC to agree to move the scholarship once you've selected your #1 school . . . timing of your request may mean there are no AROTC slots left by the time you ask to move to school #2 or #3. If you think you are on"on the bubble" for being admitted to your #1 school, make sure Admissions at your #1 school and its AROTC department know you have been awarded a AROTC scholarship to that school . . . that may help.

Be absolutely sure your #1 is really the one you want. Visit, meet cadre, attend PT and tour the school all before the deadline to accept.

We did not visit my DS's original first choice school (because it was a plane ride away) until he won the 4 yr award. My husband and I gave him multiple reasons why we didn't think school would be good fit. He'd been accepted to all his schools. Coordinating the flight /visit was cutting it too close to the acceptance deadline so he accepted his first choice.

After a 24 hr visit he knew that school was not for him due to school size, battalion size, academic options plus.
It took transfer paperwork, ongoing communication with both schools and an awesome ROO at current school until end April to know he got the transfer. And to do it he accepted a 3 yr scholarship at current school . Shortly thereafter the ROO was able to upgrade to 4yr.
DS loves his Three Rivers Battalion AROTC and PITT and admitted he should have listened to my husband and I back then.
