Last evening I received a personal phone call from my senator. I was ecstatic when he went on to tell me that I will be his primary nominee to USMA for the upcoming year. I have not received any new news from West Point or my RC. Does this call mean that an appointment is soon to follow, or further review on their part is still needed? I don't want to get to excited before I know for sure that I truly am West Point bound.

Congrats on getting the news from your Senator. And being notified as the primary is something to dance about. The dead line for everything is January 31st, so the clock is ticking. Since no one here on SAF is involved with the selection process I am not going to give you false hopes. However I do feel things are favorable. Now the most difficult part, the waiting. There is nothing to say you may find out earlier, again the waiting for the BFE is killer. Stay out of trouble and stay healthy.

Any news of getting a nomination is great news. Congratulations, you are one step closer. Remember, nominations are due by end of January. The bulk of the appointments will be in the February -March time frame. The term "primary" is interesting. Not good or bad, but principle, alternate or competitive are "official" terms typically used in conjunction with nomination The Senator may be using the terms interchangeably. It may take some time before USMA reviews the slate. And then it may take some time until they offer the appointment. Make sure and complete any outstanding paperwork. 1st semester grades are likely due soon. Continue to pursue plan B because strange things happen (especially when dealing with government). Be patience and be excited. You cleared a major hurdle.

For USMA if you are qualified and the "Principal" nominee from your MOC, you have the golden ticket.

Congratulations, and may I be one of the first to thank you for your service to our country.

BTW, what state?

He did in fact say "principal" as opposed to "primary." Sorry for the mix up. I'm from the southeast region.

Well your RC and admissions has been a little break because of the holidays so just give it some time and they will probably get back to you as soon as they can.

Principle is good. So now it becomes a matter of making sure your file is 100% complete. That likely includes transcript for this past school semester. Then it becomes a matter of waiting until they review the slate and award the appointment. That can take some time. It could be February before you hear. Hence the term "hurry up and wait".

I am a college re-applicant, so I am waiting for USMA to process my 1st semester transcript from State U. All went well, so as soon as it is processed I should be 3Q'd.

In the exact same boat as you, 20hopeful20. Got a call from my Congressman congratulating me on receiving his principle nomination. Still waiting for my college to sending semester transcripts though. I'm from the Great Lakes region, and when my nomination came through the system my RC was nice enough to give me a call and say that I will be receiving an appointment in January, barring a DUI/other criminal activity.

Looking forward to meeting you this summer! Going to be one hell of a ride.

Congrats man. I have been following your posts since last year. Pretty surreal that we will both finally be accomplishing such a monumental goal. I wish my RC could tell me anything, but no communication thus far. Patience is key

A note to you reapplicants: having watched cadets and their successes for a few years, I really do see a big different w/ those that are a little older. Those with a little college under their belt are not nearly as overwhelmed as some of the 17-18 years olds their first semester at West Point. Good luck to you!
