So, I have been timing my mile a couple times a week, and lately I've had a 7:45 to 7:50 mile time. However, I took my test today and ran a 9:03 minute mile. This is probably from the combination of the mile being the last segment of the test and the fact that it was 25 degrees out with a 10 degree wind chill. Excuses aside, my mile sucked. Is it likely that I've failed?
bb throw: 45 feet
pull ups: 2
shuttle run: 10.2 sec
sit-ups: 80
push-ups: 46
mile: 9:03
Note: I'm a girl

The average passing scores for women are
BB throw: 41'
Pull ups: 3
Shuttle: 9.7 sec
Sit ups: 78
Push ups: 41
Mile: 7:35

I can't say whether you failed or not, but I can give you a couple tips on the mile time.

I too ran the mile in below freezing weather. It was actually snowing while I ran. I managed to pull off 6:05, though. It is important that if you are running outdoors, you wear warm clothing! I had on a hat, gloves, running pants, underarmor shirt, and a light sweatshirt.

Keep in mind that the mile is the last event. Yes, this means you will be a bit worn out. It also means that once you are done with the mile, you can puke or even pass out. Give it your all! I recommend sprinting the last 1/8 mile.

To actually get better at running, don't just do distance running. Try interval training - sprint for 800 yards, jog for 400 yards, sprint for 800, etc. This will help build your endurance a lot.

If you need to retake the CFA, then retake it. You have until the 31st to submit new scores. I believe the academies will notify you if your scores don't qualify, but don't take my word for it. Good luck!

thanks! I was layered up, but I was unprepared for the wind. For the first half of the track, I could breathe; for the second half, the wind felt like I was riding my dirtbike. My examiner suggested that I pull my shirt up to cover my nose, but, overall, I wasn't dressed properly. Congratulations on your mile time, though! And thanks for the suggestions

The administer of the exam will submit the weather conditions, or at least that was how they did in the past. USAFA may see the temp. and say: let's ask for a re-do because of the weather conditions.

A reminder to all: don't just practice individual events for the CFA, but practice it in order of events.
