Hello,
Does anyone have any idea when the first wave of appointments will be sent out? My 3Q letter says "most appointments will be tendered between 26 Feb and 01 May", but I have heard that it usually happens sometime in January?
Anyone have any clues?
Thank you

Can only tell you what happened the last two years. First waves went out Mid-Jan to Early-Feb. In my brief time paying attention on this site, it seems the process gets tweaked a little each year.

Past two years, first waves usually consisted of LOA recipients, Principal Nominees, and Clear Vacancy Winners.

To Sledge's (have always loved that photo!) point "some, not most, usually happen sometime in January".

According to the West Point Admissions facebook page, 500 appointments went out in the first wave on January 29 last year. My DS was in the second wave. He was notified Feb. 18, and the BFE arrived a few days later.

hearing about another US soldier killed in Afghanistan has put this whole "waiting game" in perspective for me. Imagine seeing that on the news and waiting to hear from your child..... No more checking for me! The anticipation is hard because it's a mixture of joy, hope, and dread. It is also out of our control. Plan A, B, and C are in place. No more stress. No more questions. No more nagging. The nomination put this house into high gear but now its time to reel it in and just enjoy the ride.

Our son turned 18 on February 8th, received his appointment on February 9th last year. He was an adult; nothing we could do about it. Almost all I think about is the potential for the ultimate sacrifice. I avoid the news.

Yes I too have mixed emotions of joy and dread as my DS is 3q'd with Nom & waiting?? However if more smart talented & motivated young men and women serve our country our world would be a better place. I pray whatever path God leads him he will lead with honor courage faith & love
