BFE without portal change, email or call?

Is it possible that notification of appointment can come by mail without any other call, email or change in status on CIS? DS is already looking at the mail everyday. I thought he would be notified otherwise before anything would come in the mail. He's on pins and needles and there's so much time left for this to happen. Need to calm him down so he can enjoy his last semester!

Yes, it can happen, but an appointment isn't likely before March.

Antsy kid says "anything can happen mom!" Gotta distract him somehow.

What if one has an LOA (all conditions met) and a Nom but the CIS portal hasn't changed to an offer of appointment?

Give it time Future. They are just coming off vacation and catching upon things. Also, has your portal updated with the Nom yet? Even if you have been notified, it doesn't mean USNA has. Patience, it will happen.

Portal all updated with noms. Inpatient 18yo.

It most likely will very soon. It only took my DS portal about a week, but it's the holidays, BFE came today!

My portal updated 7 days before the BFE came. I expect it's extremely unlikely for the BFE to come before any other notification. That's just my experience though.

Most folks hear either from their MOC or portal before the BFE, but it has happened that the BFE was their first notification. Normally once a decision is made by USNA to offer an appointment they notify the MOC and give them ~3 days to call a candidate. It seems to be a mix if a MOC or someone on their staff calls. After the sort of grace period for a MOC to call the portal will update and a BFE is sent shortly thereafter. Like I said it is a mixed bag based on previous years, but the most common way this time of year is a MOC call and/or portal update.

Thanks NavyHoops. We can always count on you for the scoop.

DS received an LOA for 2019; he heard about his nom and appointment from MOC about a week later. He received his BFE a couple weeks after the call from MOC. To my knowledge, his portal status never changed prior to I-Day.

Appointment status was something that began this cycle, so it wouldn't be applicable last year.
