My daughter is visiting tomorrow. I thought flying into Colorado Springs Airport would be nice and close, but it seems ground transportation is an issue. Airportshuttles.com lists $221 - I hope we can do better than THAT! Any advice? Taxi, Uber, Lyft? Any other candidates visiting tomorrow who want to share a ride? She arrives at noon and her flight leaves at 5:25, so reliability and promptness are priorities.

From what I read, there are two taxi cos who have already been approved access to USAFA... Yellow Cab (719) 777-7777 and Springs Cab (719) 444-8686, check their websites for fare estimator.

Perfect! I hadn't unearthed Springs Cab, but the picture of the driver on the website made me call and book through them (a kind-looking lady!). They are taking care of everything from meeting her inside the airport to delivering her back in time for her flight - all for about $100, which I can call in to pay with my credit card after the trip. I'll post how it all works out - I can't imagine she's the only DD flying out on her own for a tour this winter.

No, she asked if there were weekend visit options, but they told her no, just the 3-hour tour. She is flying back as we speak. LOVED IT.
Really? So they don't offer overnight dorm visits? My son was hoping to do an overnight during spring break. Who conducted the tour? Did she get to meet with her admissions officer/counselor?

It used to be that only "invited" high school students could stay over (athletes, etc).

I am out here a few days this week Wednesday & Thursday [1/13-1/14] if anyone needs a ride to and from COS or DEN.. (Would be happy to help out. I am a Cadet sponsor parent). Send PM if visiting and need some transport.

I said I'd give an update about my DD's experience with Springs Cab.

It was...interesting. She said the driver was a bit of a rough-looking character, and they did get a bit tangled up getting her into the right gate. On the phone I was told the round-trip fare would be around $50 each way, but it turned out to be $148 (plus my DD tipped $30).

However, my DD was on an extremely tight schedule, and Springs Cab got her to both the Academy and back to the airport on time. All in all, my DD said she would not hesitate to use them again.

I don't know if Yellow Cab or Uber would have been better or less expensive, but hopefully our experience provides some information for comparison to others who are traveling to the Academy this winter and spring. Thank you, 2018DAD, for your generous offer! Too bad you weren't there on Monday!

In another post I read that there are three "diversity" weekends (diversity includes women) each year, but maybe there are more for men. My DD said she toured with another girl and her family - the girl actually had an appointment already while my DD only has a nomination, so it didn't seem like either was being given a preferential visit.
