2016 SLE No Essay???

My DS told me and his baseball coach/math teacher, a USMA grad, that there was no essay as part of the SLE application.

The coach/teacher was really surprised. He said essays have always been part of SLE/SLS.

NASS and AFA Summer Seminar both had essays.

Just to make sure, there was no essay as part of this year's SLE, correct?
 
None that ds noticed. He just applied and was commenting the same thing. Not complaining, just commenting :)

Essays are certainly part of the next application phase. Once you submit you SLE or initial application and USMA deems you meet the minimum requirements, you will be asked to complete the larger application. They will start to notify people around May/June if I recall correctly.
 
Not that my DS was complaining, but I thought WP would want to gauge the motivation of the SLE applicants given how competitive the program is. NASS and AFASS had essay prompts. Just think it is interesting.
