First wave of BFE's?

My best guess estimates first or second week of February.

Also James I would strongly encourage you to remove your name and use a handle or nick name

We were told by the admissions staff that they'd been told by the director that the target date is Feb 26.

That's much later this year. Last year, the first wave went out at the end of January. DS had it in hand January 31st. They were sent via 2-day priority mail.

Any word when the first wave of big fat envelops will be sent out?

James, my RC said the first wave would be towards the end of Jan. If you check the West Point Admissions Facebook page, you can see that they sent their first wave on Jan 29th, which is close to Jan 31st. From there, other offers will be made around Feb 26th to May 1st. It could be a few days before R-day. Who knows?

Anytime between Jan 31st-(a few days before R-Day).

Keep an eye on the admissions facebook page. They will post a picture of hundreds of BFEs going out in the mail the day they do. Second wave was about 3 weeks after that. There really wasn't a big 3rd wave...just some here and there over the next few months until class was filled.

I have talked to the National Guard Liason and he said the first round will be between mid February and March 1st. @tug_boat, @jamesniemeyer12 do they not teach you about cyber security and protecting yourself online at West Point? You are making yourself a target by putting full name.

How would a National Guard Liaison know that? momsboys has it right....admissions facebook page usually gives it away.

West Point has other members on the Admissions team besides Regional Commanders. One is a National Guard Liaison. I think this is who Delilah is referring to.

@Sydney C. The national guard liaison I was referring to has more information than a cadets mother. Seeing as he is in charge of admissions for the National Guard component candidates. They will be releasing the appointments later this year than years past.

@Delilah just be careful, there is the truth and there is the party line, and I'd be careful of ignoring the advice of repeated experience based on your personal interaction with an n of 1. WP may want to put out information for mid/late Feb for the first round, but then do it on some other timeline. In which case, that is the only answer you will get out of any RC or NGB liaison. However, if you dig on previous years' threads you'll find that is often the case, with the actual first wave sometimes coming at the end of January or early Feb. On the other hand, WP admissions has repeatedly posted pictures of the BFEs on their Facebook page that past few years before sending them. Mom might not have inside knowledge like the liaison, but she also doesn't have to give the stock admissions response on timing either.

Mom was just telling you what happened last year when her son was appointed. (and the year before when her son was hoping to be appointed and wasn't). Social media has changed notification. Maybe it will be later this year, but I kind of doubt it--not that I have insider info

No BFE yet but son notified by MOC per phone call last night to "pack his bags" for West Point. MOC stated should be receiving mail in the "next few days." (Until that BFE arrives, I am thinking, "What if this is a Steve Harvey moment and he crowned the wrong candidate?!" Ha! ) My heart is with each of you as I completely understand what many of you may be feeling. He applied on opening day in Jan 2015, so it's been a long 12 months!

That's the kind of post that has indicated the "first wave" the last few years. The congressman calls, somebody posts, and then the BFE's start arriving. Good Luck, everyone.

"The Waiting" thing can be very consuming for both the family and candidate. Keep busy and time will fly by. At my stage of life, I try to hang on to time as if Im a cat trying to hang on to a chalk board!

Good Luck

My DS received a call this morning from Congressman congratulating him on his appointment, told it would be mailed this week, he is at Marion for Civil Prep as part of SAP scholarship. DS received straight A's his first semester and kept up on extracurriculars etc. hope this helps, I remember how nailbiting it was last year for us.
