I received a nomination from my Congressman for USNA the other day but I was wondering if anyone had heard from Senators? I still need a USAFA nom and I was curious if they had started to come out.

I got a nomination a while ago for USAFA but it was also from a congressman

Senate nominations could be mailed out 'as early as' this week. USNA applications were much higher than USAFA /USMA

What districts are you folks from?

what do you mean much higher? And I'm from District 7.

TN Senators had about 90 applications for USNA and about that number combined for USAFA and USMA.

I am assuming all applicants applied to both Senators.

When did you hear about your nomination?

so in your opinion does that mean if you have a good resume and interview you probably have a good chance of a nom?

It means there were more applicants for a USNA nomination than a USAFA or USMA nomination.

Based on what I 'have heard' you won't get another nomination from a TN Senator for USAFA unless District 7 decided not to 'play nice' and coordinate with those offices.

What I have been told is all the names on Alexander's list will not appear on Corker's list so at the highest level you have a 20/90 chance for USNA. How we all rank in that 90 is anyone's guess.

A 'good' resume wouldn't have got you this far. The 'lists' are done - nothing left to do but wait.

Congratulations on your USAFA nominations. It is a vastly superior school than the others mentioned on this forum.

ok thank you for the help and advice. sorry for the confusion- I actually received a USNA nom from district 07, but I have a USAFA LOA and am waiting on a nomination hopefully from a senator

DS has interview with Congressman next Thursday, just days before the official deadline, specifically for USMA. I wonder if the TN senator noms which have shown up on some portals are in districts where congressman noms are complete and submitted? Any thoughts?

All I know is Corker has made at least one nomination to USAFA and Blackburn has made at least one Nomination to USNA

The Senators don't dual nominate and try to work with Congressional offices to maximize the number of TN nominations.

Corker and Alexander had their last coordination call early last week between their 2 offices

What district are you located? Hard to imagine MOC interviews this late.

DD had hers months ago

Cerberi, we are District 2. We know of others in our District who also have interviews scheduled with Congressman Duncan next week. Congressman's office emailed about interview mid-December, but DS was assigned an interview date of Jan 28.

And just to clarify, letter from Congressman said DS was being considered for nom to USMA. DS applied to USNA, USAFA & USMA. A friend's DS is being considered for nom to USAFA by same congressman, despite that being his second choice behind USNA.

I believe you. The process is stressful enough without having the interviews pushed to the deadline.

Not sure if completing the interviews in October/November and waiting for the Nomination list is any less stressful than having the interview at the very end of the cycle.

Agreed!

  1. Are the nominations equal from all the districts or are there some more concentrated districts?
  2. Does anyone have anything is a USNA portal?
