Have any Massachusetts candidates received an appointment? Or has anyone received news from Senator Markey or Warren? My DS received nomination from the Congressman in his district a while back, but nothing from either Senator. His portal changed this past Friday from "qualified" to "admissible" for USMA, and "Complete Pending Review" which seems positive, but reading that so many are receiving portal changes to "appointment" has me wondering about Massachusetts activity. Thank you. :)

Seems like nobody has heard from senators yet this year.

Where on the portal does it say that he is admissible,Under official correspondence?

Seems Quiet in Ma- I wonder if senators not submitting yet holds up the other competitive slates in case senators give principal noms?

I am overthinking this and need to step away from the forum!!

Good luck to everyone Patience.

I don't know where it says "admissible" because he called me on Friday from prep school to tell me the news. Then later in the day admissions called his prep school and also told his advisor/guidance counselor about the change to his portal. I have never looked at the portal so when he told me, I didn't know what he was talking about but he seemed thrilled. :) [I also meant that "Complete Pending Review" was for his USNA portal---not USMA---sorry about that.]

I agree. Massachusetts has been quiet. I only know of a girl from the high school I teach at who received an LOA to USNA, and then she received her nomination from MA-McGovern-02, and finally the BFE about 3 weeks ago. I think watching all the names get added to the appointed list is amazing but when there were no names from MA, I started to wonder. Good luck.

I did this wait last year and quite frankly it s*cks! Last year was the dreaded TWE and we waited until APRIL for that news so the wait can be long and painful, for sure! Congrats to ALL who have heard! Enjoy!! :D

Best of luck to him then for coming back !!! Did he do civil prep?

my DS just said he has had a 3 q letter under that section but it had been there for a while. No change.

I love the information I have been able to gain from this supportive group but I think I may give it up for Lent lol

MOC notified me on 1/22 that I received an appointment to USNA, however I had not heard about anything to USMA. I received a nomination from Congresswoman Tsongas(MA-03) on 1/19, but didn't hear from either senator. I did not have an LOA prior to receiving the appointment. Best of luck for USMA!

AOG Civil Prepster here, nominated in MA-02. Haven't heard from either senator.

Edit: Forgot to add haven't heard regarding appointment yet either.

I have tried leaving this forum for over a year now but it's compulsively addicting!!! And yes, same for my son, his portal was listed as "qualified" for a very long time with no change until Friday. And yes again, he is what the forum calls a "self-prep kid". He got into some great colleges last year and had only applied to USNA for a SA option. After receiving the TWE last April, this past summer he took a totally different approach and visited ALL of the SA's and learned as much as he could about all of them and then his new focus became West Point because of the commissioning options. He was invited to an overnight to USNA and USMA and thinks highly of both but USMA is definitely # 1. When USNA rejected him last spring, suddenly his plan B, C, and D were no longer appealing (to him) and he decided on prep school after a private donor offered to pay his tuition. That generous and unexpected offer made his decision very simple. He felt like this HUGE opportunity was put in front of him for a reason so he has really worked hard on ALL of his options. This time he made sure he secured a 4 year ROTC scholarship so that he will be able to serve regardless of where he ends up going. I just know how much he wants West Point so I am the one "freaking out". I do not want to relive the opening of the TWE again. Very sad to watch. GOOD LUCK TO YOUR DS!

CONGRATS!!! Glad to know there are some MA success stories!

I also think that people in MA-06(Moulton) will have success this year, since he has two slots available at every academy, and did not nominate a full slate for any academy. If I'm correct, he only gave out 20 nominations in total.

Mass. Update: A Classmate of mine just received an Appointment to USMA, although I'm not sure if it is technically a Mass. appointment since we are at a boarding school and said student got a nomination from a congressman in another state. All I know is that the BFE was delivered to our school, which is in MA.

Yay !! Congrats to them- but if it was a nom from out of state then it would be that state from which He resides not Ma- Hanging on for the long ride!

I think there is another strand keeping track of the MA nominations. JTGib13, out of 244 Midshipman Candidates reporting to NAPS in 2015, two were from Massachusetts! One was my DD. Glad to hear your DS kept going with his quest to attend a SA!!! Good luck to all!

Thank you. I'll try to find the other thread.
