Hello everyone,
My BGO has told me I am triple qualified, I have a JROTC nom, my Representative's nom, and a Senator's nom. I finished my application in July. Is there anything else I should do in regards to having a better chance at getting an offer of appointment? This is probably just a hurry up and wait situation now, right?
Thank you for any replies.

@njUSNAHopefulMid ^Those are some impressive qualifications. It surprises me how some people complete applications in July and don't hear back until Feb/March. Is you application status "Complete Pending Review" with no action/special instructions required? I had no LOA, only a Congressional nom, and completed the app on January 11th, and I heard back a few days ago. I guess all you can do is wait and try to distract yourself. Good Luck!

My application has been complete pending review since August. I have received nominations from a senator and my congressman and am still waiting.

Yes I've been complete pending review for a while. Thanks for the reply. And congratulations! Hopefully I hear back soon.

I have had everything completed including nom applications done since mid August. Nom on 1/5. Complete pending review, no loa. It's just a wait now. I was reading on a thread that if your application has been done for that long it's been before the board, so now it's just seeing if we made the cut

Yeap you are in a hurry up and wait. Most candidates will start to hear between now and March. Hang in there. Work on your back up plans and enjoy your senior year!

My DS has been complete pending review since October. Passed DODMERB and CFA, has MOC nom. Just waiting, waiting, waiting. All I can say is I think no news is good news at this point. If they have looked at the application and still have not given a definite no at this point I mean.

I don't believe they really deny anyone until April. If they were going to deny you this soon, you wouldn't be a candidate. I don't know anyone who has gotten a TWE early. You've got a chance until then.

Yes, an 11 day turn around from completion of app to appointment is an amazing fete indeed. Curious the number of times that has happened over the years. Congrats and you are truly blessed to avoid the months and months of waiting.

So if you are accepted to one SA and still waiting to hear from another(maybe until April) what do you do?
1) accept the first appointment now?
2) wait as long as you can until you hear from the other?
3) can you accept one now and change your mind if you hear a yes from the other?
DS is still conflicted.

From what I've read on other posts, it isn't a negative to wait until you hear from the other. What's the worst that could happen? You could get rejected from the other, and the decision is already made for you. If you do get accepted, you then have even more time to have thought things through about which one you are more passionate about. Why not wait, if you anyway have until May 1 to decide, and the other SA will probably release a decision in March. I knew someone last year who was admitted to every single academy(crazy, right), but he was set on either USNA or USMA. April 29th, he suddenly switches and commits to USCGA, and loves it there. I have heard that for USNA, if you accept the offer online, there is still an opportunity to decline it, but you should check with USNA Admissions or some of the more experienced and knowledgeable posters on here.

My understanding is yes, you can "back out". But remember there is no rush, she has time, and lucky her, she had options!

"Triple qualified." I assume USNA knows that in some states that is impossible. Like Florida. The Senators and Congressmen collude together to make sure that no one gets more than one nomination. My son has a Senator Nom, but the other Senator and Congressman sent a letter of congrats on the other Senator's nom, so they wouldn't be giving him one. I did inquire to our Congressman about it and they said my son and one other were on their list of 10, until they saw he was already nominated. They said they like to get as many as they can into the National Pool from Florida versus overlap, like some states do. They did say they contacted USNA to let them know that they had my son on their original list of 10, which I suppose is a positive if it was actually notated anywhere.
In regards to multiple SA applications. It's highly discouraged in Florida and some applications actually force you to choose only one. In my mind the services are so different I can't imagine just sending out applications to see what sticks. Army and Navy couldn't be more different. Not that one is better than the other but different. Same with Air Force. My son applied to NROTC and just received his 4 year scholarship response in the affirmative, which is a great back-up as he awaits USNA, but he would never think of applying to AF or USMA, so I don't really get pocketed one SA while waiting on the others. That seems more focused on a free education than a career in a particular service. I suppose it could be "service to country anywhere," as well.

"Triple qualified" is not a reference to the number of nominations a candidate receives. Every candidate can (and in fact needs to be) triple qualified in order to be appointed. The three qualifications are scholastic, medical and fitness, so the nom isn't even one of them, it's completely separate. Hope that helps.

You wait. There is absolutely no urgency to accept an appointment now...it's not going anywhere and you have until the final day to make that decision. You don't get any points for hitting the accept button on the day you get it.

This is particularly true if your DS is weighing choices. Assuming for arguments sake that another appointment is forthcoming take the anxiety out of all of this and have him take the time to think through which service he wants to serve in....look at the big picture and the long road...not the short. He should be crystal clear on what he wants to do....well, as crystal clear as a young man can be at this age.

In any event, while you can accept now and change your mind, that's really bad form and no need for it. Wait it out and then come to decision that he's 100% comfortable with.

Agree with Sydney: You wait. You also take this time to find out all you can about your choices and options so that you have all the possible information at your disposal prior to making your final decision.
Best of Luck!
