I'm a junior in high school and I plan to apply the USNA, USMA and the USAFA.
The USNA is my first choice (my father went there not sure if that helps). I do want to know what the color vision requirments for the USNA and if they are the same for the other two academies. I checked the webite but there wasn't any information regarding the topic. Any information would be helpful thanks.

Color deficiency disqualifies you. They do grant waivers, but there aren't many of them. Compile the best record you can so that they want you enough to pursue a waiver. Good luck to you!

Hi
bummer about the vision. I personally have posted a ton about this over the last 5 years so if you check through these boards you will find the info.
Here is the general skinny:
USNA the class of 2017 they gave three vision waivers. THREE (that is three individual mids) so if you need a vision waiver for USNA I hope you can pitch a 90 mile an hour fastball and have a 36 ACT. No service that has to do with water (USMMA )will be doable without a waiver-don't count on one. seriously, I don't care what smoke people blow your way, (and your dad going there wont help unless he is the current Supe) go for it but do not count on one.

USMA: you do not need a waiver if you are color deficient. however you will not be able to do anything with flying (or boats).

USAFA-last I heard it was the same as USMA but I not the expert in that.

Regretfully,
Mom with the gene carrying the color deficiency to my second son (army ROTC)
