I am looking to schedule my AROTC interview and had a quick question: is it better to interview with a PMS from a school I am applying to? Or should I just contact the one closest to me. Thanks!

+1 Joey
It is preferable to interview with the PMS from the school you wish to attend.

If distance makes this impossible, interviewing with a nearby PMS is the next best thing.

My DD reached out to her second choice school (500 miles away because 1st choice is 1300 miles away), and was told by the ROO that while it is nice to let the LTC at the school you want to go to get their eyes on you, that the cost benefit probably does not make up for it and told her to go ahead and just interview at the option 60 miles away. That was the advice she got, we will see if it works out or not! She did have that school on her list because she had to have a school in our state, so they definitely did talk a lot about the school while she was there.

I will second tibreaker. I did interview at a local school which was not even on my list. Interviewer forwarded my resume and information to my top choice school and I was offered a commander's scholarship from them - so they definitely communicate. You'll be fine.

Thanks everyone! My top choice is only 2.5 hours away and my twin brother will be attending next year, so I am just going to take the trip and do the interview. I really appreciate the responses.

We traveled 1,000 to #1 choice school to do interview in person. Outcome was a 4-year AROTC scholarship. Glad you're making the trip. Is that the first time you'll be speaking with the PMS? If so, I'd do a phone call and/or email ahead of time so he/she can get to know you and your interests before you get there.
