Hello everybody, I have just been placed on the 2nd Scholarship Board. I was wondering if anyone could evaluate my credentials and see if I am competitive in the scholarship process!

Cumulative GPA: 3.1 (Never took AP or Honors Classes and struggled in Freshmen Year)
SAT: 560 Reading, 590 Math, 580 Writing (Super Scoring)
ACT: 22 English, 25 Math, 23 Reading, 28 Science

Athletics: JV Football 9th/10th Grade (JV Co-Captain Sophomore Season), Varsity Football 11th/12th Grade (Varsity Co-Captain Senior Season)

Member of AFJROTC Program (9th-Present)- Former Element Leader (10th Grade), Current PT Monitor of Echo Flight.

Homeroom Senator (9th-11th Grade)- Responsible for representing my homeroom classmates and teacher at student government meetings.

Paid work 0-9 hours my Sophomore Year. Paid work 10-19 hours now.

PFT Scores- 8:25 Mile, 50 Push-Ups, 32 Sit-Ups.

Height and Weight: 5'11", 225 lbs

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this and giving any type of feedback! Any reply is greatly appreciated. Once again, thank you all very much!

Not going to really assess your chances, but a couple things jump out at me - your GPA is a bit low and test scores are below average but not awful - this is not insurmountable, but makes it tougher.

Also, unless you're pretty low body fat, you exceed Army weight standards by quite a bit. I believe the max weight for someone 5'11" is 179lbs and 20% bf. You do not want to fight the tape your entire career, so I'd keep an eye on that.

Good luck to you.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it. My Freshmen year, I struggled quite a bit. Hopefully I can still be given a scholarship!

Even if you don't get a scholarship, enroll in ROTC in college anyway. College-based scholarships are all about your performance once you get there. Good luck!

Hi as a mom, I would say it's okay to take year off goto local college part time take STEM classes study hard, retake your SAT/ACT get better score, work on weight & better PFT score? Then apply again for 4yrs AFROTC scholarship or even the USAFA. One year to better yourself to reach the top?? Best wishes:)

Yes, I definitely agree! Thank you so much for your feedback! Just have to wait for 2-3 weeks to see if I have been awarded a scholarship. There's always a chance!

From my online research (automatic disclaimer), I have seen that once boarded, an AROTC applicant will be considered for scholarship at every board after they submit. So even if you don't make this one, there's a chance you will get a scholarship at a later date. Don't give up hope just yet!
