Hello everyone,

I am an applicant for the class of 2020 and I have a nomination from a New York senator. Has anyone recieved an appointment with a senator's nomination yet? Do the appointments for senator's slots usually go out at a certain time or gradually? Just wondering when I might hear.

Senators have already had constituents accepted this year. Look at Appointment thread for the class of 2020.

Do you know if the majority of those appointments go out at a certain time tho? I know some have gone out, but I know at least some of New York's have not as of yet because we were just notified of our senate nominations for Senator Schumer on Jan.29.

Congrats JD7, I imagine you'll be in the next few weeks, if you look at the appointments thread you'll see a lot from senators. We just got ours from our MOC Sean Patrick Maloney Jan 25 and are waiting to hear on an appointment too. I think your chances are even better with a senatorial nomination. Admissions official line has been that the first big wave of appts will be end of February, at the very least I'd expect you to hear then.

My son received his appointment to usma, but his portal doesn't say which MOC he was credited to. He got a nomination from our Rep, and according to his portal, got two nominations from one senator. That senator did have two open spots, but it is still strange that he got two from her. Regardless, the portal does not indicate which MOC gets charged the spot.

One thing that helps narrow it down of course: when you get the phone call from your MOC, you will know who the nomination was attributed to...for those with multiple MOC nominations.

That means that your son is competitive on both slated for your Senator - a really great thing, because that's another chance to get in! You can call your MOCs and ask if you were charged to them, or you can also wait for your phone call, as @quemado suggested. Congrats, I'll see your DS on R-day!

Not the case at all.
The MOC will call you whether you got their slot or not. They won't even know unless you were the P-nom.
When WP makes the offer of appointment to a candidate, they call the MOC first to let them know so they can be the first to congratulate. It is a courtesy that WP grants the MOCs. But, it doesn't mean that you got that MOC's slot. You may have come off the NWL. Remember, one slate = 1 slot and the other 9 (if qualified) go on the NWL.

You won't know until you graduate from West Point, what slot you got.

Re the Senator with 2 slates - sometimes they submit the same names for both slates. They may not have 20 candidates to put on 2 slates.

Would they really be coming off of the NWL already? Serious question, I have no idea, I assumed the NWL was for after they finished the mandated acceptances, and I'd be surprised if the mandated acceptances were already complete.

According to the letter USMA sent, all qualified applicants go on the NWL before appointments are made. I was an alternate nom but the principal and I received an appointment - so yes off the NWL, and I don't know who I was charged to.

Yes I do recall reading that somewhere. Thanks for clarifying this point.

Senator Stabenow published her nominations. I don't know how my son got two because it looked like she had 20 on list to WP. May be mistake. However, when my son was appointed the noms from Senator Stabenow had not even reached WP. Not on portal and his WP RC said they had not received nominations yet. Just recently popped up on portal. It matters not, however. He is in!!

Thanks to everyone who responded. I just got my BFE in the mail today, so I guess that answers my question!!!!!
