Disenrolled from AFROTC now what

Hello I was looking for some advice in what I should do next anyone's input is greatly appreciated.

So I was in AFROTC for 2 years and was a decent cadet. I had failed the math section of the AFOQT once and received a field training slot for the summer of 2015. Unfortunately if I wanted to go down to field that year I would have to retake the AFOQT again before field training or I would have had to extend a year at school, but that is not an option for me because I do not have the money to go to school for 5 years. So I studied hard on my own and I failed again this time by 2 points. I am a good student and I had a good PFA score 98.7. So my question is what do I do now I have always had my sights on being an officer in the Air Force but I do not think that is a possibility for me because of the 2 test limit on the AFOQT. I have done my best to continue to go after my dream by taking math classes and by submitting a waiver for a chance to retake the AFOQT but I am not hopeful because I know rationally that they do not hand them out often if at all. I love the military (and the Air Force) but I want to be an officer so badly.I would love some advice on what my next steps should be and how to be competitive for the other branches. I know there is OCS for the other branches but other than that I am in the dark because I am a junior in the spring semester and OCS recruiters do not want to talk to me until I am about to graduate. Any help is really appreciated thank you so much.
 
Before you start evaluating advice, you need to take stock and reflect on what your primary goal really is.
  • Is it to serve as an officer?
  • Is it to serve in the AF?
  • Which other branch really fits my goals?
  • Which branch best fits my skill set?
Once you narrow down the above questions to a short list, you can then begin forming a set of alternative plans with a focus on the branches and programs (OCS, PLC, AROTC etc.) that best fit your goals.

my goal is to serve as an officer if at possible in any way the Air Force if not then the Navy
 
I doubt you're willing to go Marines, but just in case you might consider seeing a Marine OSO (at the recruiter?) amd discuss PLC and or OCS upon graduation with them. You can find info on Marine PLC online (see Google).
 
I believe serving as an officer in the AF is out of the question because OCS will ask if you have ever been in a commissioning program, such as, AFROTC or USAFA and the reason why you left the program.

I could be wrong, but for some reason that sticks in my mind from a few years back when another poster was disenrolled, when discussing if they could go through OCS.
 
A bit confused, you said you are disenrolled but applied for a test waiver? Also from what I've heard the 3rd test isn't hard to get just talk to your CC. Lastly you previously could attend FT without passing, did the rules change? How long was it between tests 1 and 2?

Really ? I have heard that it is nearly impossible and its been a year since my 2nd test. I am sending the Waiver through a recruiting office because I do not think that it is possible for me to go to school for one or two additional years so I was thinking OTS.
 
I found this online. Given you missed the last test by 2 points, a waiver certainly would be worth trying for if the rest of your file is strong.

14. How many times can I take the AFOQT?

Answer: An individual can take the test twice. Waivers to this can be approved at either the MAJCOM or AFPC level. If you inquire on a score and you see blanks in the area where the scores should be, it's mostly likely the result of an invalidation due to not having a waiver to test a 3rd or 4th time. Please refer anyone that has blank scores to our office for clarification and resolution.

Does not make sense why you've been out of rotc for a year and they did not help you with the waiver process, something does not add up. Either way to continue with the AF you need a waiver and OTS will know of your failure or disenrollment of ROTC.
