When will 3yr AD winners do their DODMEDB physicals? Do they do it now or a year from now?

You will do the DODMEDB as soon as your packet arrives. Must be completed before the start of the new school year for scholarship winners. Congrats!

My son had shoulder surgery 4 years ago. He recovered without complication.
Should he take the information from the surgeon with him to the physical?
Or should he wait to see if is is DQ'd and save it for the waiver application?

AJC - Fill out the supplemental orthopedic questionaire with the medical history forms. If it says to include the documents do so but if not, don't. Provide the information on the supplement regarding he surgery like what was repaired, date, name of surgeon, and whatever else is asked. Indicate dates of PT if that was prescribed. Indicate date released for full activity after the surgery and what activities your DD/DS has done since the surgery like Varsity sports or other fitness activities that show full recovery. If the surgeon or PT indicated he has full range of motion then say so in the supplement.

None of the initial medical history and supplemental requests for information indicated actual copies of medical or surgical records were required. If you're lucky dd/ds will be qualified without even a remedial. They might request a copy of surgical records as a remedial.

In previous years we provided the information I described and had remedials to provide some records, but no DQ. My DD has had 2 DODMERB physicals, one in 2010 (Sr HS) and one in 2014 (Sr College). Remedials were for surgical notes for a broken ankle, a pathology report for an excised growth, and a note from family practice doctor that she had completed a course of antibiotics for strep. Her second physical occurred while she was recovering from strep.

Thanks.
He does have records that indicate full recovery and clearance to return to unrestricted activity.
He played 3 years of varsity football and other activities following the clearance.

Don't fill out any forms until asked. When you go to your initial physical be prepared to explain to the examining Doctor any issues you indicated on you medical history. If it was shoulder surgery 4 years ago and now fully healed with no limitations then the doc is probably going to indicate that right on the exam form. If DODMERB still wants the ortho form they will ask for it.

DS has begun DODmerb process with SA. USMA has requested a waiver and we are awaiting those results ( of course, still may not get appointment even with a waiver). ROTC will now request a waiver as he is a 3 yr winner. Question: When will ROTC make the waiver decision? Without a waiver/scholarship, he would not be able to afford one of his school choices. We would need to know his waiver outcome before beginning freshman year - he could still go to the state school and be involved in rotc without waiver /scholarship, but not the private school.
