Link from Reddit below - This source has provided other great information regarding CLC and other internships available to AROTC Cadets.

Basic information from the Reddit post below. Key is to understand that every Brigade and Battalion have different selection methods so YMMV. However, if you don't ask and don't prepare you won't have the opportunity.

"Saw this initial stab at Summer Training Slots. Get with your Cadre. Each BDE has different methods for selection of who attends these opportunities and further- each Battalion has different selection criteria. I have no clue how your school will select each Cadet.

Get in the pool now and start training if you want to go to Combat Dive Assessment. It is a smoker. USACC did very well there last year but the Cadets were very well prepared!

Airborne School -250 Slots spread over 5 class dates. 6-7 slots per BDE per class

Whinsec- 10 Slots for the summer. 1-2 per BDE

Air Assault - 240 Slots for Fort Benning, 108 for Fort Campbell. 30 per BDE at Benning. 12 slots per 9 classes spread out numerous classes at Campbell.

Pre Dive- 20 Slots for USACC. 3 per BDE

Combat Dive Qual Course- 10 Slots for USACC

Cadet Field Training- West Point - 70 Slots for USACC

Northern Warfare- 12 Slots for USACC

Sapper School- 8 Slots spread over 2 Courses for USACC.

Good luck."

is Pre Dive also at Army Dive School down here in Key West? Is that for uncertified divers wanting to go to Army Dive School? DS is a dive master so would be nice for him to get a Combat diver slot but those numbers are not looking good even if he does know some of the instructors from his volunteering with Team OCEAN

Pre Dive is the course right before CDQC. I expect the ten that go to CDQC are part of the twenty that take Pre Dive. It is likely that the top ten cadets from Pre Dive get to take the follow on CDQC. Have your son research it once he is settled in ROTC.

Competition is stiff for this one. Another poster here has a son that passed CDQC. Search on it.

Other poster here. 20 cadets go to pre-dive, and in theory the top 10 move on to CDQC. They will not send a qualified person home, but you definitely have to earn your spot. Much depends on how full the class is, etc.

Whether or not you're a certified diver before the course is irrelevant - there is very little resemblance between recreational diving and what is taught at Key West. If your son is interested, he needs to let his cadre know early and often. The few available slots get snatched up quickly, and waiting until you get one is far too late to begin training. He needs to be banging out a 300+ Pt score and be a very strong swimmer / comfortable in the water to even consider going.
