DS has 2 noms (competitive) and a 3Q letter that states he's on NWL and appointments will go out Feb 26-May 1.

Questions-

If he gets an appointment, when would the portal change and what exactly changes? What page?

Does portal update each night or specific time of day?

After Feb 26 could the portal change at any moment? Or are there waves of appointments? Noticed no picture of appointments going out on West Point Admissions Facebook page yet, last year it was posted on Jan 29.

Is there a date prior to May 1 that if you haven't been a part of the waves of appointments that you are truly on the NWL and your chances diminish?

As you can tell, the wait is taking its toll. DS seems to be taking it well but this Mom is a nervous wreck.

No clue, but can give you some scenarios

1. Your DS is a top candidate in each nomination slate, but there are also competitive candidates that hasn't finished their application. After the application deadline, candidates that didn't finish their application are dropped and most competitive candidate is offered appointment. This scenario your DS will see the appointment sooner than later
2. Your DS is competitive, but did win the nomination slate. If so waits in the NWL for the admissions office to rack and stack to get kids of the NWL. This scenario, your DS could wait until May.

The appointment decisions are made on Tuesdays, so by late afternoon or Wednesday FFRs can see the appointments. There supposed to be a 72 hour hold to allow the Congressional office to notify the candidate, so by Friday afternoon the candidate portal should be updated.

When you login to the portal, click "your application overview" and on the left, there will be some blue boxes not there before that say "Offered Appointment" with a lot of links under it. BFE is a large package with WP logo, you can't miss it.

For those on the NWL after their MOC appointment has gone out, it is like reviewing the playoff chances for a sports division. Mathematically, those on the bottom will be eliminated first (sent a TWE). Those that can clinch a spot early get their offer of the NWL. Every week that goes by as othe offers are made, accepted, and rejected, the picture becomes clearer and admissions narrows the field from both ends. It's those on the bubble that sit until close to the end. Usually by then, your RC will contact you and let you know where you stand and whether or not you are also being considered for civil prep.

The wait is also taking its toll on me. Your DS and I are on the same boat. I have three nominations and 3Q'd, NWL...so the only information that I've got is that the 26th of this month is the start of the "Rush Hour" for the appointments...portals will be updated and BFE's and phone calls are going to start rolling in...TWE's are also on a rise..(DON'T want those!) I wish your DS luck and I hope he and I meet at R-Day. PM me if you want to stay in touch, so we can chat while we continue the infamous wait

I'm a Candidate for class of 2020 and I found that the best way to deal with the stress is to channel it into doing something productive. I started doing mma on top of my off season for football, and it's been awesome for dealing with stress. I'm 3q and 2 noms, and this wait stinks.

MMA's awesome. Been doing it for two years, besides the 6 years that I've been in taekwondo. Hope to see you there at R-Day! #Fighters#Represent!

Yes, the wait really sucks. Its also hard to stay motivated in school and other stuff when you're sought on thinking about if you will gain admission to ypur dream school and become an officer or settle for plan B or C..not easy. But yes, its true that staying buay and being productive really helps lighten the load of "Wait Syndrom"

Hey Felix Rosa,

First of all, congratz! You really earned it! I just have a question. Were you a principal nominee? Thanks.

Well, honestly I don't know. Because I received an update on my portal stating that I was qualified and that I was sent to the NWL. So yesterday I received an email from one of my nomination sources stating that I'm in and I shall receive an official offer in the next few days.
(This is me infering) I'm from Puerto Rico. So I got nominated by the resident commissioner andthe governor. The RC has 5slots availabe..didn't earn one..the governor, on the other hand, has only one slot available for 10 nominees. I won his. Although it was a competitive nomination so I'm guessing that the academy>admissions< itself chose me.
So in conclusion, I don't think I was a Pnom, but the academy chose me as the slot winner for the governors nomination. Thank you, I hope you get in too!
Profiles will update tomorrow afternoon btw, but not all is lost if you aren't within the first wave
