So unfortunately I did not pass the verbal section on the AFOQT which I took sometime last semester. The date for the second attempt is April 11th 2016. I am going for a Rated Enrollment Allocation and my Cadre were not sure if I am able to compete for it at the moment. My question is, can I still go up for a Rated EA with a fail in the AFOQT for the time being? My Captain was not sure if I would be able to meet the rated board and have to go for just an EA (Non Rated).

Thanks for the help in advance.

To my knowledge you cannot compete for rated with a failing score.

Not sure you can. But there's nothing wrong with a non rated EA. It's not the end of the world; you can still go rated later on after FT.

I was given non-tech, not rated EA.
Was originally an Intel select
Just got my results from the recent rated board, and now I'm a RPA select.

How did you end up applying for rated position with a non rated EA? After field training are you able to like apply for a rated EA?

My cadre asked our class for those who wanted to go rated after FT, we could have the opportunity to sign up to go up for a rated board. As for your second question, no you can't. Once you have an EA, that's the one you have for FT.

(Granted I am a unique case due to me being a senior cadet that went up to this recent rated board with the juniors due to me graduating in a different FY and not with my senior class)

Nice new profile pic, I think it's about time to change mine too! haha

Last question, are the chances of a rated slot tremendously reduced while having a non tech, not rated EA?

They are the same as someone with a rated EA and technical degree. All the rated ea means is that you WILL try for a rated position in the fall.

I don't know if it changed but all a rated EA is, is the intent to go rated. Some don't get rated or decide not to apply. You are "considered for disenrollment" but I never heard of anyone who got a rated ea and didn't get a rated slot being disenrolled. So it really does not matter, simple truth was they gave better EA rates for those who were less competitive, that's all. (Unless it has changed)

Depends on your years stats, statistically around 10-30% more are selected for tech/rated than nontech. It really just depends. Honestly it does not matter as your stats are in and you can't change it so just hope for the best.
