I have been religiously watching the USNA 2020 Appointment thread and was curious to know how many of the offered appointments were recruited for a varsity sport and/or blue-chipped?
Similar to another thread on here. They don't publish stats on that so no one knows.
Both my sister and I are NCAA eligible. We came in contact with the coach before Summer Seminar and he told us to meet him there, which we did. Then he asked us to try and attend the sports camp over the summer, which we did. Then he asked for film. While we were gathering film, we sent our travel season schedule and he told us he would go to a tournament. We sent film and have not been given a yes or a no, so we're just wondering since there is a growing list of appointments and two boys in our area were recruited for football, what are odds of still being recruited?
I agree. It sounds like the coach has some interest but wasn't going to use any Blue Chip spots on you. Being actively recruited you would know. Coaches can call 1/week due to NCAA rules. USNA follows all NCAA rules. The only exception the NCAA gives to SA is they allow recruits to be spoken to a few months early and SAs do not participate in the NLI process.Remember communication initiated by you doesn't count in most circumstances. For those being recruited you get these calls weekly. Heck in high school way back before cell phones I got the point I dreaded them. The coach would also be talking to you about your application because they would have eyes on it as it goes through the process. I knew exactly what was going on with my application as the coach continually was asking for more info, data, status of things like DODMERB. If you aren't getting these two things, then I would say no to the recruitment part. Not trying to be Debbie downer on you guys but that is the reality and USNA and D1 sports is a big time reality check. D1 sports are brutal in many aspects, remember coach's livelihoods are based upon a bunch of 17-23 year olds. Now this doesn't preclude you from walking on to the team next year if you are appointed. Good luck.
