I'm currently a senior about to go into the academies and around this time is the time to register for ap tests.
These are the courses I'm taking right now:
Ap literature
Ap European history
Ap government

Are there tests that I should and shouldn't take?

You can not transfer in any college credits. What they will allow you to do is take a placement test to determine the correct class level.

You should take the exams anyway in case something happens and you wind up having to go to another school, Would be a shame to lose the credits in that case.

"The AP test scores will be used by academic departments as one piece of information to determine advanced placement or validation for new cadets. USMA also provides its own testing for new cadets to determine if they will be scheduled for the standard course, the advanced course or if they can validate the course. Five different departments provide USMA placement testing/validation opportunities to new cadets during the month of July. Also an AP score of 5 in European, US, or World History is necessary to proceed to validation. An AP Calculus, AB or BC, score of 4 or 5 is important in validating Calculus. A Chemistry AP score of 4 or 5 can be important in validating chemistry. English requires an AP score of 4 or 5, and a high SAT-V score for consideration to validate English composition."

You won't get credits, but there's a chance at validating classes if you score 5's (some instances 4's) on certain AP's that have a direct corollary back at the Academy. Its good to do it. Most of the more annoying courses are the core classes which you have a chance of either being placed out of (essentially given a free semester to fill with something else) or put in an advanced section which in my experience, you got a lot more out of (and less busy work compared to regular sections). Where it really pays off is you get that much more time to spend in your major compared to the folks who don't get a chance to validate anything. This opens up much more opportunity for depth that sometimes you'll lack in your discipline compared to your compatriots at a regular university.

Casey does this count if your have already taken and passed a college class? For example, if I have taken English Comp. 1 will I be placed in like an advanced English class?

You will likely be given a placement test. My son came in with lots of college credits (and no AP credits). He took several placement tests once he got to WP.
