How to appeal an enlistment denial?

Should I even devote any more time to enlistment/appealing this decision

Hello,

I recently was denied the opportunity to enlist into the Navy. I am 28 years old so I'm a grandpa in Navy terms but I also spent a lot of the time from the time I was eligible to enlist till now getting my bachelor's degree. I originally thought I would get my bachelor's and join the Navy as an officer but I had no idea how much my past criminal record what affect that process. I quickly changed my aspirations of joining as an officer to joining enlisted just to try and get my foot in the door and work my way up. Long story short I have 2 DUIs. One from when I was 17 and 2nd from when I was 24. I also have a possession of marijuana from when I was 17 other than that, that's all that is on my record. I expressed all of this to my recruiter before even going through the seven months of lengthy driving back and forth 60 miles for 7 months and he seemed to think it would be possible because of the fact they were so long ago and that I could receive waivers on up to 5 serious infractions (such as mine). So my question is simply this, does anybody know of a way I can appeal the Navy's decision based on my good merit shown throughout the years since my infractions? Also, I scored an 88 on the ASVAB if that helps my case any. Thanks for any input.

You have three criminal convictions and you are only 28 years old. All are drug or alcohol related. Not exactly isolated incidents of poor judgement. All due respect; You should be upset with no one but yourself.

Be it officers or enlisted, our armed forces are looking for strength and character. When assessed objectively your history leaves a reflection of irresponsibility.

Criminal conduct drags behind a person like an anchor. Not much you can do about it at this point.

We'll thank you for your reply be it mildly condescending and chastising. However, all I needed answered was the last paragraph in which you actually addressed the question at hand. I've had a lifetime of being reminded of my mistakes and take full responsibility for all of them. My question was simply does anybody out there know a way to challenge a decision based on their past experiences? So kindly do everyone a favor in the future and if you have no positive input, just don't respond. Thank you.

I'm sorry I think you received an answer you did not like but in all fairness was answered and correctly. Your character and behavior still lacks the maturity of understanding your mistakes. Do NOT tell someone not to answer condescending if you can not handle a truthful answer. This is also forums for the Service Academies not for enlistment issues. Maybe the answer being given is of someone who is not challenging but guiding.

An answer to one of your questions...Law Enforcement through out the country will make you wait 5-7 years for any negative infractions. So as its only been 4 and this is the Military, you may be looking at a bit longer.

I passively said thank you to my question at hand and dismissed all other content because I've heard it a million times. I know I messed up, I know there are lifelong repercussions to that fact. I wasn't asking for confirmation in that fact. I was simply reaching out to find ways to appeal my situation. Unfortunately there's no way to completely feels one's remorse in their past actions through a simple question posted on a forum online and I in no way addressed the last response on a negative or immature way. I simply asked if there was no input towards how to rectify my situation to simply not respond.

You have no shot to receive any slot for officer. For enlisted all they can do is apply for a waiver and see if it is waived. Waivers can go in waves in which they are granted freely and other times they are strict. It is about meeting recruiting numbers. More than likely the USN is meeting its goals and therefore those who need waivers tend to move down the list. All you can do is talk to your recruiter and see if it's the end of the road or if they can apply for one again later. Also the other option is to try another service and see if they will grant a waiver.

Also plan to move this to off topic thread as it has nothing to do with USNA. OP, this forum is about commissioning programs. This kind of question is not the intent of the website.

I would spend the time spelling out the situations to people online in which many would side with me in the fact that the first two were not my fault but that if the justice system and happened at the same time. As for the third infraction I take full responsibility and get to experience the defeating and damming

Thank you for the response sans self shaming. I would try to post this somewhere more appropriate but I'm super new to military forums. Would you by chance be able to recommend another website where I could get some advice on this topic?
