A second letter was posted to my DS's portal today stating:
The admissions office has received all your information and the Admissions Committee has reviewed your application. You have been found academically and physically qualified, but unfortunately due to limited class size, I regret to inform you that we will not be able to offer you a place in the entering class for the United States Military Academy this year ...
I assume this is the standard TWE. Is that right? He was encouraged to reapply in a separate email, but no medical waiver was ever requested. I understand that it would be a waste of time without an appointment, but it makes it difficult to think about going through this process again just to be medically disqualified ... Any thoughts?
(Still waiting on a decision from USAFA. Since they have not requested a waiver, my DS is glad to have his Plan B in place.)
Thanks to all of you for your advice and encouragement! Best wishes!
