I have already applied to the Naval Academy, but haven't seen much information on the typical grades/scores/activities which are helpful to getting accepted for the prep school.

ACT: 24
SAT: 1060 (490 math, 570 verbal)

GPA: 3.5862 unweighted, 4.51 weighted

AP Classes: Physics 1: Algebra Based, U.S. Government and Politics, Environmental Science, Literature and Composition, AP Calculus AB

I had never made a grade lower than a B prior to this past semester where I made a 76 in AP physics and a 70 in pre-calculus.

Activities:
4 Varsity letters for cross country
4 varsity letters for Track
2 Varsity letters for Swimming
Team captain for club track team for 4 years (starting freshman year)
2x All-conference runner
2x team MVP
Concert master for school orchestra
Member of an youth orchestra which performed college to professional level works
National Honor Society
National English Honor Society
Boys State Delegate
Page for Governor

My weakest aspect of academics is definitely math. I had a horrible teacher for pre-calc, but I am now taking AP Calc AB (on my own through an online class) and making an 84.

I am being recruited by a few NCAA DII schools and plan to run in college for one year if I am not offered NAPS.

I received an email this morning stating my admissions record had been deferred and they want my 1st semester (senior year) grades as soon as possible.

Does this mean I have any shot at NAPs or a foundation school or do my scores and grades simple have no way of making the cut?

You did not receive a TWE (Thin White Envelope) which is a rejection. That is a good sign.

I haven't received a TWE, yet? But haven't seen any updates in my portal from USNA. I am really hoping for NAPS! My scores are slightly higher than candidate_runner. Should I hear something/receive something this month? I recently received an ECP Scholarship (ROTC) but would much rather attend a service academy. I'm being pressured to sign at an MJC but am putting it off as much as possible in hopes I receive word from USNA. I'm worried because I have friends that received NAPS notification last week.

AZBOY no one will know the answer to these questions. As long you haven't received a TWE, you are still in the race! Also, make sure to relay to your friends there is a NAPS fb page they can join to get more info. Hope to see you there and good luck!

That math SAT is pretty low. I barely made it to NAPS with a 570 math, 680 reading, and 680 writing.
