Nrotc Marine Option?

My DS was informed via email this week that official results will not be released until mid to late April. I think that's cutting it close given that colleges are looking for students to accept by May 1st. Hang in there.

Same here seems like the wait just continues to grow longer and longer, and now finding out mid to late April is really is killer.

I completely understand. When DS got a "Thanks, but no thanks" it was mid-April. But that was plenty of time to execute plan B which looked just like plan A but without the scholarship. As long as you have plan B lined up there is really no cause for concern. You'll find out in plenty of time.

Understand completely. It's hard, but try to focus on what you can control.

Im from Florida but I would think all results would come out around the same time.

April seems to be about the right time following the last few years patterns. That shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone. Continue to set up back up plans and it might even require an extra deposit. I hate to say it, but part of the game. Wait until you get last second order changes with a spouse and 2 kids... Especially since these guys will be future Marines... learn to embrace the chaos and the suck. As USMCGrunt said... you focus on what you can control, that is how we all made it through the chaos.

Very good advice. My DS knows that he will be part of the NROTC come next September regardless of the outcome in the next few weeks. He knows that 5 years from now he will be a Marine regardless of the Path that get's him there. He is very determined and that is his constant focus. In the meantime we continue the college visits. He has been excepted to 4 of the 5 schools on his list and today were on our way to Purdue. It's a very exciting time and were enjoying every minute of it.

We are from the North East.

It's a difficult time for the kid (as well as the parent) -- even for those of us that generally knew how the process went. My son didn't get the scholarship the first time around, but was selected for the 4 year during the early board the following fall while he was a college program mid.

Again, I hope anyone in this situation is already well on the way to executing secondary plans.

The Marine Corps, unlike the Navy, only holds two boards each year to consider 4-year National scholarship applicants; typically, the boards are in November and March. I'd expect the March board results to be released early next month.

I received notice today that I was not selected for a MO scholarship. Don't know if this helps at all, but decisions are coming out.

Sorry about the bad news. I'm confident a good plan B is in place.

Sorry to hear, but where in the country are you? I saw one person received notice in Texas, just trying to figure out where people are hearing

Sorry to hear wannabegonnabe. Still plenty of options out there. Enroll as a college programmer and knock it out if the park. Kinnem's DS is a perfect example of how it all works out in the end!

Go hard with the plan B. My son went through the same thing. It was agonizing and confusing in many ways -- but keep pressing. He enrolled as a college programmer and got selected during the early board the fall semester of his freshman year.

Thank you everyone for your support but I am embarrassed and don't want to mislead anyone - my Plan A worked out and I've been accepted to the USNA class of 2020. I am sorry about the confusion. I just saw the question and wanted to answer it from what I knew in case it could be helpful.
