Does anyone know how the immunizations work? My DS is looking through his CGAS paperwork that needs to be completed and it has an immunization form in there that has to be filled out by the doctor. My son has always gotten his shots when he was supposed to as scheduled. He received his Hep A and Hep B when he was younger as well as several other shots. Does this mean he has to get all these shots again? Or is the doctor just supposed to record the dates he had them the first time? We are confused.

Every time he received shots they were documented by the doctor and I have a copy of the shot record.

The doctor will need to record what immunizations he's current in, and get any ones that he's behind on. Just take the form to your doctor and he should fill it out properly.

One recommendation; since both GMC and MMI are independent of the academy and follow state regulations, you'll need to have up to date immunization records for the prep school as well. Make sure you make copies of the immunization records for the prep school.

Yep, this will be easy, just make a visit with the doc (most time will be with the MA or nurse) to review immunization status.
They will have all the records of which ones and when and they can simply transcribe them over onto the form and then put it in front of the doc for his/her signature.
Easy Peasy.

And by the way, some offices may do it without a visit, simply drop off the form and they will usually have it completed by the end of the day, but you need to ask first...

So if he got all three doses of his Hep B when he was little, that should be good right?

Yes! He won't need Hep B or any others he received as a child again. I am a civilian physician and we fill out these forms all year. But as I mentioned in USNA forum from a few days ago there are more immunizations now for older kids than there used to be. I would recommend you talk to the provider and see if any of the more recently required/recommended vaccines for Meningitis/HPV have been given so your child does not need to get so many the first day.

Thanks. He has had two doses of his HPVs. He has also had his MPV4 shot as well. I looked at his last immunization sheet and compared it to the form and I think he will be fine, other than the Polio shot.
