Now that our DS has received his appointment letter to the USAFA, I have some questions relating to the USAFA Parent Clubs/Associations listed here:

http://www.usafa.af.mil/Leadership/CadetDevelopment/ParentsClub.aspx

We will be living in England while DS is at the Academy and we are wondering whether we can or should join a parents club and if so which one?

Are the clubs primarily social in nature, where physical get togethers are the primary benefit?

Or do they provide a lot of information electronically which a remote member would find of value?

The most likely place within the U.S. for us to visit would be the USAFA for parents weekends and the like. Could we and should we join the Colorado Parents Club?

Clubs are very different. Some have dues, some may not. Some might do brunches and dinners for cadets and/or parents.

If you are out of the country, joining a club would be useful for the information we get from USAFA. The parent liaison sends emails to the president of each club and then the information gets posted or email to the rest of the club. I don't think the where is really a big deal. I know in NYC we post everything on our Facebook page. Others might do the same.

We've searched for a Parents' club in Missouri, but the only one is in St. Louis. We are closer to Kansas City. The MOKAN club website doesn't seem to work anymore, http://www.usafamokan.org/ So, not sure if they do not exist anymore, are reworking their page, or what? Anyone know of another one nearby or have been able to contact the Missouri-Kansas Club?

Suggest calling USAFA AOG and asking for the staff member who works with Parents Clubs.

Our parent's club actually just reached out to us! Maybe yours will do the same. We came home to a message on our machine yesterday. (NW Ohio)

Contacted by MOKAN Parents club via email today; invited to a luncheon for appointee and parents in June.
