Suppose I am deemed competitive by both USAFA and USMA; also suppose that I am selected for a scholarship for AFROTC and AROTC. If I am medically DQ'd by DoDMERB, do each of the four programs do their own waiver process? Meaning that I have four separate "chances" of getting a waiver granted? Also, if I send a letter to DoDMERB to help the waiver process, will each program use that letter independently of the others?

Thanks

Yes and yes and yes.

You have the process correct.

In most cases each program has an individual waiver authority. The only difference is the Navy, but the Navy waiver authority reviews each program individually.

If you have been found disqualified by DoDMERB, and you submit additional information to DoDMERB and they are unable to remove the disqualification, they will forward the information on to the waiver authorities of every program you are in for.

If you expect to have to go through the medical waiver process do you recommend any pre-emptive actions? Should we get letters from our family doctors or the ROTC finalists or anything? Or should we just wait for the medical eval and see what comes of that? Thanks for you assistance.

I would wait to see what DoDMERB does before going out and getting anything done. It could be that DoDMERB could request a specific test, or specific information. It could also be that DoDMERB could clear you with no additional information required.
