I have noticed with all the TWE's that have gone out people are receiving different notifications when it comes to possible Prep school and NO to prep school. Can someone shed light on why some yes and some no?

I haven't seen anyone post about just a TWE for USAFA and it not including Prep. Is this on another SA site?

Mom, read this thread, you will find several different posts regarding this subject. I saw quite a few page 5 and after.

http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/twes-will-be-sent-this-week.48319/page-6. Look at stkgator's post.

There are some others as well. Even some that were told to hold on until April 20th to find out about the prep school.

My DD was told to hold off until 20th of April but has not received TWE.
I see, sorry. Perhaps you should post your question to that same thread, although, it appears that those waiting, like your DD, to hear about Prep did not receive a TWE and will not until after April 20th. I am sure Insider would know this and will shed some light.

Lol... No I was responding to Katwswim. DD is just waiting until she hears something or receives an update in her portal. I was just explaining that I don't believe there were two forms of the TWE letter that went out yesterday. Only the non-select (No USAFA/Prep) TWEs went out. I was trying to see if Katwswim had read something elsewhere that we had not seen. I believe the confusion has come from my post about DD being told by admissions to hold off until 20th of April.

Yes I'm just curious as to why some letters or via communication people are told different things? Not selected USAFA or Prep.
Like was it something they applied for while they applied for AFA? Do prep hopefuls have a certain criteria that others don't?

No applies to prep or anything. Who ever applies to USAFA "applies" to prep. USAFA Prep is for students who are not 100% academically; most on this forum are over qualified to attend prep school. Those who show potential but are not offered an appointment could possibly earn a falcon foundation scholarship in the next couple of weeks.

To add to this, Those offered Prep are no less of a candidate than those selected for direct to USAFA. Some of the Preppies could have been as qualified as the selected 1200-1400 for direct entry to USAFA. With out that weakness they could have been as strong or stronger than some of the selected 1200-1400.

Thank you! DD has been accepted at three colleges the one she's leaning to also has a AFROTC program. At this point she is contemplating going that rout and reapplying next year.
In her words these schools are good and she can see herself there BUT AFA is all she wants, and wants it deeply! She was already 3Q the trick now to figure out what she needs to make herself even more competitive.

@katwswim Your DD may say she is all AFA at the moment, but she might really enjoy ROTC and decide to not reapply. As long as she does well in school and in ROTC, she will set herself up nicely for the Class of 2021, if she wants to reapply. I will say in my experience, you can't go wrong with re-applying. DoDMERB is good for two years and it really shows your motivation to be in Colorado Springs. Best of luck!

Thank you! She is on a flight right now for Open Water swim in Ft Myers FL, a competition that she has qualified for three years in a row! The timing is perfect as this hit so hard. Also today another college has accepted her. 3rd one! So while you know the field is highly competitive (SA) you still go through the thoughts 'I'm just not good enough' maybe I should have done this or that?
Then you read of the others who also didn't make it and you know you must just forge on!
Weigh the pros and cons and move on. I'm not sure what she'll end up doing, I just told her "take this weekend to spend on you". "When you come home you can make your decisions, what ever you choose you will be successful and daddy and I will support you 100%."
This board, though I just joined has been a wealth of information and if she should decide to go forward I will encourage her to join. Thank you all
